  • Family-run site on a Dorset farm five minutes’ drive from Lyme Regis
  • The Jurassic Coast five minutes’ drive; Seaton Tramway 20 minutes
  • Spacious pitches five minutes’ walk from the South West Coast Path
When it’s all about location, Cummins Farm Campsite certainly is very blessed. This five-acre, family-run (and family-friendly) Dorset site sits in quiet countryside between Charmouth and Lyme Regis on the world-renowned Jurassic Coast, with the South West Coast Path handily close by as well for the walkers among you. Accessed up a private lane with a security barrier and no through traffic, the well-maintained camping field is sheltered by trees and has electric hook-ups around its perimeter. The vibe is generally relaxed, with no formal numbered pitches, so you can choose where you would like to set up your base camp. The purpose-built facilities block has coin-operated showers, and there are washing-up stands, drinking water taps, a freezer for ice blocks and phone-charging points – but no electricity, so remember to pack torches and batteries for after-dark perambulations. You can walk to the seaside within about half an hour; a sign-posted footpath through fields takes you right into the centre of Charmouth or Lyme Regis, and you get to explore the West Dorset countryside along the way. The return journey is steep in places for tired legs, but there are regular bus services, with the closest stop 10 minutes’ walk along a flat pavement from the campsite.

What customers say

A ripper, spacious and peaceful farm camp. Top-notch, spotless loos with heaps of hot water, no queues! Freedom to pick your spot, handy for Lyme Regis/Charmouth by foot or bus. Staff are a legend. Coin showers a bit annoying for some, but most reckoned it was good value and a chilled vibe, keen to go back.

Power optional grass site

Liked Everything about Cummins Farm was absolutely perfect! The pitches were massive and on flat ground. We had a large 8 man tent, gazebo & car with loads of space between us and our neighbours.
The toilets were spotlessly clean and fully stocked every time.
Showers were hot and extremely spacious (managed to fit myself & 3 kids in at the same time!) Plenty of space to put a bag to keep dry. We didn't have to queue at all.
Loads of space for washing up and always clean and ready to use.
The freezer was a god send in the hot weather - great for the kid's ice lollies.
Looking up at the stars at night was beautiful, so little light pollution.
We were lucky enough to forage for blackberries which made for a lovely bonus treat.
5 mins drive to Charmouth beach to search for fossils and around a 15 min drive to the supermarket to feed my hungry tribe.
The team were so helpful & friendly, couldn't ask for better hosts.
We loved it here so much we booked an additional 3 nights - would have stayed for longer if we had the chance.
Our favourite campsite BY FAR! We hope to visit again next year!

Power optional grass site

Liked Everything, lovely campsite.
Great location, can walk about 35 minutes to Charmouth or Lyme (steep walks back) or short drive to both.
Shower and facilities clean, showers are 50p for 5 minutes - showers are lovely and warm.
Charging facility and deep freeze for ice packs super useful.
Owners very quick to respond and help.
We would love to return.

Unpowered grass site

Liked Great campsite, nicely flat, super clean toilets and showers. Even you have to pay 50p for 5min showering, is well worth it. Plenty of space and fabulous rainfall shower head. Recycle corner, washing up stations.

Disliked Needs a shelve( ideally) in shower room ,so you don't have to put stuff on floor.

Liked Friendly. Really nice owners. Clean facilities. Easy to get to, lots of room. Lovely family atmosphere. Great location to get into Lyme.

Disliked Got a little noisy in the evening. But I did go to bed early as I had a little one! So wasn’t a massive issue!

Local attractions

The ‘Pearl of Dorset’, Lyme Regis (five minutes’ drive) has loads going on, with a beach for fossil hunting, boat cruises and fishing trips from its harbour and a full roster of festivals, regattas and carnivals over the summer. Those of you keen to learn more about pre-history can tour the displays at Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre (also five minutes), and join organised fossil walks along the beach. Anyone looking for scenic hikes can follow the South West Coast Path (five minutes’ walk) for amazing clifftop views in either direction. If you’d rather admire the coastline on heritage transport, ride the Seaton Tramway (20 minutes’ drive) between Seaton and Colyton. Ideas for family days out include petting the rescue animals at The Donkey Sanctuary (25 minutes), seeing the mute swans at Abbotsbury Swannery (35 minutes) or feeding lemurs and meerkats at Axe Valley Wildlife Park (10 minutes). For thrills and spills, head for the hard-core rides at Crealy Theme Park and Resort (40 minutes).
