What customers say

Great spot near West Bay's harbour & beach; staff are a big hit! Facilities are mostly clean but a bit dated for some. Families loved the entertainment. Pitches are usually spacious with nice views, though some found them boggy after rain & Wi-Fi was patchy.

Star fully-serviced concrete slab caravan site

Liked Close proximity to westbay town, especially the wonderful cafe down on the front called Rise. Crabbing on the front is excellent and we did this many times during the holiday.

Arcades were a good source of entertainment for our 10 year old daughter. Squishy making was good, and good value for money. Wish we would of done more of the activities on offer on site.

Disliked Unfortunately we won't be returning to the park as it just wasn't for us. The serviced pitches are on gravel which made us feel like we were sat on a carpark. We're used to seeing a bit of greenery, bit of grass, flower beds, some personal touches not just a grey gravel carpark. The only bit of grass was at the back of the pitches which is massively sloped, so not really usable.

Water supply hose needed to be 15 meters just to reach the tap, needless to say we had to purchase a larger one which took 3 days to arrive. No one on site could help us (the touring cabin is closed on a Tuesday and Wednesday) no good for us as we arrived on Monday & by the time we'd hooked up and unpacked the cabin on site was closed! 3 separate trips to Reception to try and sort the issue, but nothing was sorted. Annoying as we were paying for a serviced pitch yet we couldn't use it for 4 days. Absolutely no one around to help on the touring part of the site until the Thursday. I've never experienced this before on any other sites and we've been touring for 10 years.

No bikes or scooters allowed on site, so our daughter wasn't able to ride off on her own as she would do normally. Needless to say she spent a lot of time sat on her i pad on the gravel carpark instead of whizzing off on her bike enjoying the site. Wish we'd of known this prior to booking. Nothing for kids to do on the touring part of the site unfortunately.....with no grassed area to play on, or bikes allowed we were really stumped!

It was too far to walk & too dangerous for our daughter to walk through the 100's of static caravans rammed into the site, not to mention the service trucks & cars up and down the road to the kids playpark, shop & arcades which was a shame as this is exactly why we like touring, it gives our daughter a sense of independence. We had to escort her all over the site. She didn't want to go off on her own for fear of getting lost, the site was so jammed full of caravans & cars it was a bit chaotic for us. Not particularly calming or relaxing in our opinion.

Swimming pool was fully booked for the entire week we were there. We could of qued up outside as a potential 'walk in' but some days the que was so long that we decided to miss this activity - as we didn't fancy standing outside only to be turned away and have a disappointed child.

Husband reported the mens toilets on more than one occasion we're awful. Ladies seemed ok, few mornings there was no soap and they hadn't been cleaned by 9am which I found disappointing. But the showers were hot and it was quite a large block so no ques.

Couldn't walk the dog on either of the beaches in Westbay which was a shame as everywhere we went on day trips at least one beach would allow dogs. So we just pottered around the pavements all week as there wasn't a decent field/dog walking area on site. Just a narrow fenced off small area in-between the caravans. Used it once, felt a bit hemmed in.

Overall it just wasn't for us, there wasn't any special touches or anything particularly exciting about the site. We actually left a day early (never done this in 10 years!). Shame as Westbay is a lovely little place to visit.

Disliked Shower block disappointed. Can't change without clothes getting wet. And for the price there charging for a day they need to invest some money into the facilities block. Really shabby let down.

Liked The view is really nice from the top of the hill that was about it

Disliked Didn’t really like the pitch area where the tents were. Didn’t really have much room for the kids to play as we like to chill around the tent quite a lot.
We Try to go swimming and they said it was fully booked all week which the kids were quite upset about

Liked Value for money, lovely location nice pitches, safe for the children

Disliked Life guards awareness- they were more busy singing and messing about on the walkie talkies than paying attention. A child went down the slide who couldn’t swim and grown up was not in the pool. My husband swam across the pool to grab her when he noticed the dad running towards the pool.

Local attractions

Start on the doorstep in West Bay itself: you could go fossil hunting underneath the sandstone cliffs, crabbing in the harbour, take a boat tour of the Jurassic Coast, or head out into the big blue yonder on a sea fishing trip; then there’s golf, paragliding, scuba diving, watersports, and excellent walking along the coastal paths… Take a break from feeding yourself up on all the gorgeous local produce to hand feed the birds at Abbotsbury Swannery, where the 600 nesting mute swans make for an impressive sight (and plenty of hungry beaks); there are also award-winning gardens and a kids' farm to explore. The coastal resort of Lyme Regis has been drawing the crowds since time immemorial and is well worth a visit; other historical gems in West Dorset include the Jacobean manor house of Mapperton, set amongst topiary, terraced gardens and rolling hills; Forde Abbey and gardens; a cluster of castles; and the giant chalk man in the hillside at Cerne Abbas. Alternatively, if there are animal addicts in your party, they'll go ape for the 240-plus inhabitants of Monkey World and potty for the penguins and underwater specimens at Weymouth Sea Life Park.
