  • Peaceful site in remote countryside among grassy fields and woodland
  • Less than 10 mins’ drive to North Dorset Trailway walks, cycle rides
  • Firepits, lots of animals and spacious green areas for kids to play
Book a stay at Charisworth Farm for rural roams and animal antics: this site in the middle of the Dorset countryside is home to domesticated creatures ranging from cows, pigs and sheep to chicken, geese and horses – plus lots of local wildlife like deer and birds… When not getting up close and personal with critters you can rest in grassland among trees at this leafy park, with plenty of space for adults to unwind while the children play. In the local area, walking and cycling can be had on the countryside bridleways – including on the North Dorset Trailway that runs from Poole to Sturminster Newton less than 10 minutes’ drive away. In the evenings this site’s all about peaceful, quiet times around the firepit (music and parties aren’t permitted). Every May Bank Holiday it gets a little livelier as it hosts the family-friendly charity event Teddy Rocks Festival. Not here during the festivities? Amusement is still all around: an extreme-sports centre is just over a five-minute drive away for quad biking and paintballing and you can head over to the town of Blandford Forum (around 10 minutes by car) to browse the shops or check out the military communications and fashion museums. If you’ve not got your fill of cute creatures, even more are at Monkey World - Ape Rescue Centre (20 minutes’ drive) away where you can seeing poorly primates being rehabilitated. For sandy times instead, the beaches of Sandbanks and Studland are both a 40-minute drive from the site.

What customers say

Lovely country views, quiet spot with ample room. Guests loved the friendly hosts, farm critters & local sights. Clean loos/showers, communal fridge/freezer & fire pits available. Some found the loos/showers could be cleaner & the road a bit rough.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Very beautiful, quiet place for families and couples.

Disliked The toilets and showers could have been cleaner, but they were still acceptable given that this was a functioning farm with busy owners.

Power optional grass motorhome site

Liked This is a beautiful peaceful campsite with wonderful country views in all directions. There are limited electrical hook ups available but communal fridges and freezers are available. Toilets and showers were portacabin style but clean and plenty of hot water. Dish washing area too. Some nice walks from the site. Owner friendly and site clean.

Disliked Being a farm site there are plenty of flies which are attracted to tents/caravans in the early morning sun!

Liked Beautiful area and useful picnic benches. Pool table occupied the kids.

Disliked Bathroom and showers needed a good clean I’m afraid. Also, there was only one shower working.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Lovely peaceful setting with woods and open fields. Friendly and helpful owner. Barna rea with urn, toaster, fridge, freezer and pool table.

Disliked Toilets and showers are a bit basic but the water is hot. Road entry is a little tricky to find and takes confidence to rejoin main road.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Space and views, peacefulness and tranquillity (hidden gem), pool table and general facilities, freedom to pitch where we wanted and keep car close by, farm animals, general location which gave great access to so many lovely places. Fairly level ground. Price was very good for what you get. Communal fridge and freezer were nice additions. Friendliness of the Farmer. Good washing up facilities.

Disliked Six unisex toilets but only one had a working light, cleanliness acceptable (we didn't expect the Ritz) but could have been better. Showers hard to get temperature right, and only two of them so could be a problem if the site was busy. Access road long and very bumpy, so dont take your prize motor down there!

Liked Everything, the showers and toilets were ideal! The location was extremely peaceful, and beautiful views day and night.

The night sky on this site is breathtaking, it's magic. Great for kids watching for shooting stars!!!

Disliked There's nothing here to dislike, only that I wish we'd been able to spend a little longer here!

Liked The most gorgeous view… it is such a peaceful location.

They had some lovely animals that the children loved to visit.

Local attractions

Dorset is known for its historic market towns like Wareham, a spot set beside the River Frome. Travel for 20 minutes to reach this destination with its Saxon walls then get out into the countryside at the Blue Pool former clay quarry filled in with turquoise water. Wimborne’s another town worth a punt: turn up here for the minster and market (25 minutes drive) or travel the same distance to Dorchester for a teddy bear museum, writer Thomas Hardy’s old 19th-century house and the Maiden Castle ancient hillfort. Poole (half an hour) also has historic buildings to check out, especially in the Old Town with its Georgian houses and at Poole Museum’s medieval Scaplen’s Court. Take boats to Brownsea Island from the harbour for woodland paths from which to see rare red squirrels bounding around. For old vehicles instead of buildings and wildlife, The Tank Museum in Bovington Camp with displays of armoured fighting vehicles is 20 minutes away.
