What customers say

Great peaceful woodland getaway with private, spacious sites & fire pits. Clean, eco-friendly facilities. Friendly owners. Tricky rural roads, but worth it for the serene, comfy wild camping vibe.

Unpowered concrete slab campervan site (maximum 6 metres)

Liked Camper van sites had wood chipped floor.
Toilets and showers well maintained and stocked up with toilet paper.
Nice touch with the faith in nature shower gel, shampoo and conditioner.
Beautiful setting

Disliked Tented area was just dirt as grass completely worn away. Due to heavy rain this turned muddy. Not ideal when camping.

Unpowered concrete slab campervan site (maximum 6 metres)

Liked Absolutely gorgeous place.
Lovely little individual pitches in the woodland.
Off grid but really nice toilets & showers
Fire outs at each pitch with log bags available from the site.

Disliked To be honest (& I’m a mum & grand mum) there was 1 noisy family that really ruined the evenings for me.
Such a shame to be somewhere so tranquil & gorgeous ruined by screeching older kids.

From the manager: Thanks so much for the feedback, and I’m really sorry your evenings were disturbed. We work hard to keep Barhams peaceful, with quiet hours in place—but very occasionally noise slips through. We have wardens living on site specifically to deal with issues like this quickly, so if anything crops up during a stay please let us know at the time and we’ll step in right away. I hope we can welcome you back for the tranquil experience we’re known for.

Excellent site, feels like wild camping (but with a flushing loo!)

Unpowered concrete slab campervan site (maximum 6 metres)

Liked Everything! What about absolutely wonderful site with every detail considered and delivered!
Each pitch was spacious and private, the toilets and showers were immaculate and the site was clearly well looked after and maintained.

Disliked Nothing, have been telling everyone how brilliant this place was!

Unpowered concrete slab campervan site (maximum 6 metres)

Liked Tranquil. No signal. The birdsong and birds - bring binoculars as they flit in and out the trees. Private firepit area. Communal area if you wish. Pitches are so far apart and secluded - just what I needed. Nice walk 1.5 miles up the lane to The Union Inn for food, dog friendly.

Disliked The price for one night £32 was just about acceptable. Charging £5 for the dog on top I felt was a bit much.

Unpowered concrete slab campervan site (maximum 6 metres)

Liked The secluded quiet, forest location and the shaded pitches. The toilets, showers and washing area were clean and well stocked.

Disliked I bit difficult to get to, along very narrow lanes.

Local attractions

Fancy a walk? There are plenty of options around here, including moorland hikes in Dartmoor National Park (10 minutes’ drive) and gentler strolls in the River Dart Country Park (15 minutes) – the latter also with a bike park and an adventure park. If that’s all too strenuous, a ride on the South Devon Railway (15 minutes) will show you some of the scenery instead. For coastal days out, head to local beaches like Teignmouth (25 minutes) and Ness Cove (half an hour) or visit popular seaside towns like Torquay (half an hour) and Brixham (35 minutes). Kid-friendly days out are plentiful too – as well as all the beaches, you might like to meet cute animals at Pennywell Farm (20 minutes) and their more exotic cousins at Paignton Zoo (25 minutes) or feel like a giant at Babbacombe Model Village (25 minutes).
