  • Dartmoor National Park 15 minutes' drive; 40 mins to north Devon coast
  • Rural location with easy access from A386; dogs welcome
A 64 acre site in rural Devon, Peace and Moor is a historic Culm Meadow allowing campers and motorhome users the opportunity to pitch up in a peaceful, off the beaten track location yet with great access to all the local facilities in and around Okehampton. The site is 45 minutes drive from the North Devon and North Cornwall Coast, 60 minutes drive from the South Devon Coast, 35 minutes drive to Exeter and 10 minutes from Okehampton. Based on quiet country roads and sitting just on the outskirts of Inwardleigh village, which has a picturesque church, whilst Folly Gate (the next village) has a pub popular for its Sunday roasts. Lots of nature visits the site, Buzzards and Red Kites circle overhead whilst you might catch a glimpse of a White Hart or its Red cousins roaming around. At night you'll be able to star-gaze from a dark sky spot. A simple site, you will be off grid with no showering facilities. Back to basics. No facilities for freezing No onsite reception on-site

What customers say

A peaceful, secluded spot for a 'back to basics' wild camping adventure. Easy to find with great host comms. Quiet, safe vibes, though one loo was full. Bathrooms clean but could do with better lights. Despite small hiccups, happy to return.

Unpowered grass and earth motorhome site

Liked Had a great stay here just like wild camping, very simple just what we needed. The only little thing was couldn’t use the portaloo because it was full and hadn’t been emptied but didn’t really matter to us. Would definitely stay again.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for the review, we are really pleased you enjoyed the stay, the peace and tranquility and hopefully the nature!
We note your comment about the portaloo, good spot. We'll add instructions inside the unit holding the loo so users know how to empty it.
Hope to host you again!

Local attractions

If this nature-filled site has inspired you to see more of the local landscapes, you'll have plenty to choose from. Devon’s two national parks – Dartmoor (15 minutes' drive) and Exmoor (an hour) – are the big hitters, but it's also worth checking out some smaller, quieter destinations like War Horse Valley Country Farm Park (15 minutes), Meeth Quarry Nature Reserve (15 minutes) and Haldon Forest Park (40 minutes). Tackling it on two wheels? Try the Granite Way (10 minutes), Pegasus Way (10 minutes) or Ruby Way (25 minutes). There are also off-road mountain bike trails at Tamar Trails Centre (35 minutes), or you can try part of the 180-mile Tarka Trail from Meeth (10 minutes). And if that all sounds a bit tiring, how about a ride on the South Devon Railway (an hour)? Other days out nearby might take you to the gorgeous RHS Garden Rosemoor (half an hour), the historic attractions of Exeter (40 minutes) or the beaches of Bude (45 minutes). Both Dartmoor and Exmoor zoos are about an hour away.
