  • Family-friendly site with fishing lakes 15 minutes’ drive from Newquay
  • Mawgan Porth five minutes’ drive; Springfield Fun Park 15 minutes
  • Children’s playground; resident farm animals; farm shop; launderette
Be sure to pack your trusted rod for your stay at Penvose Farm Holidays, a working farm on the edge of Cornwall Airport Newquay, with four coarse fishing lakes where guests can go fishing for half the price charged to outside visitors. Indeed, the best thing (or one of the best things, at least) about staying here is that your loved ones will also have plenty to keep them occupied while you sit by the water, waiting for carp and perch to bite, your canine friend snoozing gently by your side. (There is a small fee for dogs, but they are welcome here, provided they are well-behaved around the livestock.) A children’s playground has a wooden climbing structure, swings and slides; the large grassy meadow is also a top spot for riding a bike or kicking a ball around. Then, of course, there’s the spectacular beaches of North Cornwall. Within a short drive are Mawgan Porth (five minutes), a sheltered sandy triangle at the mouth of the River Menalhyl; and neighbouring Porth Beach and Newquay (both 15 minutes, separated by the rocky Glendorgal Headland). Rockpools line the former, set within a deep inlet, while Newquay is renowned for its surfing waves. The South West Coast Path runs along all of these beaches, and a clifftop hike might lead to vantage points with stunning sea views – or to traditional Cornish pubs where you can stop for refreshments. A small farm shop at the site sells bits and bobs for the barbecue; there are also several supermarkets within a 10-minute drive, not to mention heaps of restaurants in both Newquay and Padstow (25 minutes). Other amenities on site include hot showers, a launderette and a communal fridge freezer.

What customers say

Family-run site gets a thumbs up for roomy pitches, spotless amenities, and top-notch staff. Handy for Cornwall, it's got a well-stocked farm shop and a ripper vibe. A few saw minor snags with shower setups and Wi-Fi costs, and the airport means the odd bit of plane noise. Still, most keen to head back!

Liked Friendly staff, easy check in, great little farm shop and clean shower and toilet block. Great location close to lots of little bays, local pubs and not far from Newquay. Lovely sized pitch and well maintained.

Disliked That we only got to stay for one night! :(

Liked Liked Leaving after only 1 night!
It was good watching the planes.
The farm shop was good.

Disliked We were literally in an unbowed tough field with cow oats at our pitch! Electric hook up wire passed over the hedge! Toilet and shower block were very dirty and shower spray rubbish. For £54 per night I expected much better. By far the worst campsite we have stayed on in Cornwall.

Liked Close proximity to the beach.
Flat pitch.
Friendly campsite staff.
Pretty fishing lakes.

Disliked Toilet and shower block not cleaned frequently enough.
During Boardmasters Festival, this campsite was used as a base for day ticket holders. There is a shuttle bus to and from the festival from afternoon until the early hours. Whilst I’d expected to hear the music and the airport, I didn’t expect to find people being ill in the toilets morning and night as well as noise through the night. The campsite owners clearly understand this because the first question I was asked was whether I was heading to the festival. They then promoted the shuttle bus which picks up and drops off in the middle of the site. The no noise after 10.30pm rule therefore became a joke.
Moaning aside, the staff were friendly and this is probably a good place at quieter times of the year.

Liked Peaceful campsite, friendly staff and reasonable farm shop. Lovely to have the food van and Barista coffee van onsite most mornings too. Loved walking around the fishing lakes, very beautiful.

Disliked Shower heads need changing as the water sprays in every direction apart from on your head!

Would be really nice to have a map of the site issued on arrival so you know where all the amenities are and which pitch you are on.

Liked We love the family friendly environment. It's relaxed and peaceful. The children loved the freedom and playgrounds. My husband loves the fishing the walk around the lake is very tranquil. The farm shop has everything you need and the staff are helpful and friendly. The local area is naturally beautiful and provide plenty to keep you busy.

Disliked Sadly no wifi during our visit however I think this was an issue relating to a local festival as the qifi had been fine in previous visits.
