  • Peaceful pop-up site on a family-run working farm with sea views
  • A 25-minute walk to Brook Beach; 15 minutes’ drive to Blackgang Chine
  • Close to coastal walks, trails and bridleways; pub five minutes’ walk
You won’t be short on coastal walks, hikes, bridleways and beaches from Chapelfurlong Farm on the Isle of Wight. In a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it’s no surprise that this peaceful site, part of a family-run working farm, has splendid sea views. If those views have you craving a dip, the nearest beach is only 25 minutes’ walk away - Brook Beach has a fossilised forest and splendid golden sand. Another sandy stretch, two miles long, is just five minutes’ drive away. Compton Beach often has great surf and if you’re lucky, you might find a fossil there too. Chapelfurlong Farm is a pop-up site with sheltered pitching areas and basic facilities that include water and toilets. It’s a peaceful place, that’s for sure, and the location is also rather lovely. The local pub is only five minutes’ walk away, so when you fancy yourself a pint at short notice, you won’t have far to go. If you’ve got the whole family in tow, you’ll also be happy to find that there are a couple of theme parks within driving distance of the site. Blackgang Chine (15 minutes’ drive) has dinosaur and cowboy themed rides, while Robin Hill (half an hour) has 88 acres of entertainment at hand.

What customers say

This quiet, secluded spot boasts bonza country and ocean views and roomy spots. Toilets and sinks are often called spotless and spick-and-span. The ripper, friendly owners are loved for their help, and it's grouse for bushwalks and bike rides. Local pub's a winner for tucker. Some folks said it's blowy and hilly, and a few noted no hot water.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked A welcoming, beautiful site to get back to nature and enjoy what camping is all about on a working farm with lovely owners (and dogs!). Field well prepared, facilities simple but spotless and efficient. All behind the village pub, The Sun Inn! In our hurried and busy world its hard to get back to simplicity and nature, this is it, enjoy views and peace, and at night dark sky park stars are stunning!

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Great views; easy to find; next to a pub; sheltered (and flatter!) at the top of the field, thanks to the hedge. Friendly and communicative owners.

Disliked We didn't dislike the farm dogs being around – they're a lovely, playful pair – but some people might be surprised by them loping over to investigate and maybe bark at newcomers.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked The lack of frills, only basic facilities, all clean and working.

The fantastic views.

The peace and quiet

Disliked One bloody sheep in the next field bawling for her lamb at 5am. Couldn't believe one sheep could be so loud. Or shriek for so long.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Lovely place to stay, just myself and two small children. Welcoming hosts and my little boy got to have a ride in their digger which was an unexpected win! Would definitely go back again.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked This was a great little campsite. The kids and dog had space to run free and the toilet and sink were always really clean. The owners were really friendly and helpful and the pub next door did great food and was really family friendly. The walk to the beach was easy even for the youngest child and the beach was great.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Basic but brilliant 2 nights camping, beach nearby, views of cliffs, clean toilet and wash sink in solid wooden structure with handsoap, loo rolls, hooks for lanterns, towel etc. Solar powered light bit unreliable so take a torch, lantern etc.
Only one other camper when we were there. Pub near if required but we bbqed. Owners welcomed us and came down to say goodbye as well. Bins and recycling bin provided.

Disliked View of cliffs and surrounding fields only possible due to being on a hill so site is quite sloped.
Farm dogs visited when bbqing (although v well behaved) which was fine for us but might not be if you don't like dogs.
Site can be windy so bring plenty of pegs.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Ideal location for a 2 day cycle around the island. Great base for a couple of walks and a great pub a 2 min walk away. Jackie went above and beyond to help me out, she even drove to the pub to ask what their opening times were and then found me to let me know. Friendly dogs too!
