What customers say

Stunning, peaceful spot with great naturals. Basic facilities, no phone signal. Clean amenities, friendly owners. Handy for walks & pub. Downsides: shower distance & wet ground.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked A very peaceful spot along the banks of a soothing and beautiful river. Descent facilities without giving that feeling of being on a purpose built campsite.

Unpowered grass campervan site

Liked Super views for pitches. Glad to see warm water at the toilets and sinks. A pity the low branches on the way to the motor home area caused damage to the roof of our camper van but thanks to the loan of step-ladders we were able to remove the damaged aerial and had a safe journey home. Also left our collapsible step to get in/ out of the camper. Didn’t miss it until we were home and unpacking last night.Senior moment but just hope someone else can make use of it. Will come back again next year I hope.

Unpowered grass campervan site

Liked Beautiful location with great views.
The campervan pitches are away from the main campsite so even with all the pitches full it was quiet.
Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff.
Warm showers and clean facilities.

Disliked The toilets are a little way from the camper van pitches which were fine for us but would have been tricky with children. The showers are a 5 min walk away along a road.
The campervan pitches are close to a road but there was no traffic at all on it at night.

Unpowered grass campervan site

Liked Beautiful setting, close to pub, stream and open fields, Mountains in every view

Disliked Owner arriving on site at 7:30am on a Sunday to remove bins and glass- waking up most of the site.
allows groups as there were a few parties going on, seemed cramped in the tent area (just an observation)
bit confusing when we arrived where we should go- easily rectified by allocating pitch numbers upon booking?

Unpowered grass campervan site

Liked Lovely campsite, near the mountains, gentle vibe, and relaxed.

Disliked A bit of a shlep to the showers after a hard days walking....what I mean is, they aren't far, but after a long walk seems like too far!

Local attractions

Dust off those hiking boots, for Seatoller’s surrounds are stacked with walking trails to suit all comers, from those seeking a gentle stroll through woodland and across heather-strewn fells to those in search of more vertical challenges. The beginning of a couple of the national park’s top climbs are easy to get to too – Great Gable (an hour and a half) and mighty Scafell (a couple of hours). Roam a little further afield for hikes on Catbells (15 minutes’ drive), around the Castlerigg stone circle (25 minutes) or on the slopes of Helvellyn (half an hour away, and a fine choice for mountain bikers too). If you’d like to have a crack at climbing in a controlled environment, try the via ferrata route at Honister Slate Mine, five minutes away, and worth a stop for an underground mine tour even if you’re not up to clinging on to crags. All sound a little tiring? Less demanding days out include the Lake District Wildlife Park (half an hour) and the sculpture trail at Rydal Hall Gardens (40 minutes). It’s worth knocking around Keswick for a bit too, visiting the eccentric Puzzling Place exhibition and Derwent Pencil Museum or taking tipples at the town’s brewery. Alpaca trekking at Lingholm Estate and Whinlatter Forest are some other splendid days out.
