  • Well-maintained family-owned park on a working farm
  • 15 minutes' drive to Pickering and a short walk to Hutton-le-Hole
  • Luxury heated shower and toilet facilities in a walkers' paradise
How does a hillside setting among the highly scenic North York Moors sound for a holiday? Just fab? Make with haste to the farm site of Hutton Le Hole Caravan Park in the North York Moors National Park, a short walk down the hill from the village of Hutton-le-Hole, and among spectacular scenery in a walkers' paradise. You're within driving distance of several famed North Yorkshire locations from here – York, Whitby and Scarborough are all 50 to 55 minutes away – or you could opt to stay close to home instead, for farm-based and moor-based walks, steaming around on vintage railways, and investigating Yorkshire's old and grand homes such as Castle Howard, half an hour from the farm. (Or just munch your way around instead: market towns like Pickering and Kirkbymoorside are close by, along with farm shops, tearooms and eateries of all sorts.) The park is on a working family farm, a short downhill walk from Hutton-le-Hole village, and has a dog-walking area and a farm walk to potter around. It's a level and free-draining site, with plentiful drinking water points around the grounds and with excellent amenities including a utility room with laundry, fridge/ freezer and microwave, and a luxury heated amenities block with family rooms and hot showers. For the safety of all guests (and the grass and nearby crops), large barbecues, firepits and naked flames aren't allowed on site. Small controlled barbecues are fine, but you'll need to be responsible and make sure they don't burn the grass, trees or hedges.

What customers say

Lovely, quiet site in a gorgeous spot. Guests rave about super-clean facilities, roomy sites, and friendly staff. Easy to get to Hutton-le-Hole and its pub, plus heaps of dog walks. Mostly great, just a couple of minor gripes about showers and busy times. Most would defo come back.

Liked This was our first visit to the site and we were not disappointed. The site is lovely and well kept and all the facilities are spotless including the toilets and showers. There are quite a lot of individual toilets / showers and family rooms so you are never waiting around. The site also has free wifi which we had no problems with. The site is well away from the road and it’s extremely quiet on a night time. If you like a peaceful location then this site is well worth a visit. We can’t recommend this site highly enough and we will definitely be back.

From the manager: Thanks for your review. We have a lot of repeat customers so it's always good to hear of a new opinion and thoughts on your stay. We are keen to offer a great site that is extremely clean and the ideal place for a lovely holiday, however you choose to spend it. We are fortunate to be in a beautiful area with great walks, drives, bike routes etc coupled with some great eating places, things to do and let's not forget the stunning village of Hutton Le Hole - one of the most beautiful in the UK, on our doorstep so you can walk down our track in to the village to enjoy the Folk Museum, Tea Rooms, Pub and even a beck stream to dip your feet in if you're feeling adventurous!
We have touring pitches but also you can bring friends to stay in our Shepherds Hut, Bell Tents and Static Lodges so let your friends and family know about us too!
We'd love to welcome you back sometime!

Liked Beautiful site very well maintained and in excellent location lovely village pub nearby.

Disliked Toilets shut for nearly 2 hours from 10.45 for cleaning every day, very difficult if camping /glamping and don't have access to a toilet .we just went out for the day to use a loo 🤣But upside was the facilities were beautiful and clean 😍

From the manager: Thanks for taking the time to leave a review of your stay on our site. We do advertise that we close from 11 - 1 to allow our staff to clean the facilities to a high standard, without being interrupted and risk of slips on the wet floor etc. We do advertise the closure so that customers are aware prior to booking - another case of being sure you are selecting the right location and level of service you need for your stay. If our building would allow partial closure we would remain open but sadly the layout means it is safer to close. We do try and open them earlier if we get finished earlier. A really tricky one that we hope our customers understand.
Glad you enjoyed your stay!

From the manager: A lovely review! Thanks!
The Shepherds Hut is a cosy place to stay and has it's own toilet and shower, a real bonus! You can park right up to it and once you're here there's no need to stray very far. Glad you enjoyed it!

From the manager: Thanks for your review. The weather has made for a busy few weeks but there's still plenty of space on our site. Our staff love welcoming everyone and are quite clued up on the best places to go and where you might need to book in advance. We're pleased you enjoyed your stay!
The Crown changes hands in a few weeks so it will be interesting to see how the new people put their mark on the food and drinks service.

Liked Friendly welcome, but good to have pitch information before arrival.
Lovely spacious pitch. Brilliant facilities, very clean and everything you need.
Went on lots of lovely walks in the area
Great dog walks

Disliked Closure of facilities for cleaning seemed excessive
Not very much information on walks ect.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for your review. Great photos too!
We are glad you liked the site and we will certainly make sure our staff offer information about walks as they seem to be seasoned boot wearers who love a good yomp around the area. It's always difficult to gauge what level of information, maps and apps our guests have already got and then for us to make suggestions sometimes isn't welcome but please ask and we can certainly locate walks and print them off for you if needed. The most popular app at the moment seems to be AllTrails but we do have an old fashioned OS you can look at too!
Closing the facilities is one of those difficult things to deal with as we have health and safety for you and our staff plus the obvious distractions of folk wanting to chat and we have a toilet brush in our hand - not really ideal so we decided to concentrate on a high standard of cleaning and close the building while we do it - fair to everyone. We time it for departure and to reopen on arrival time so it should most people. Sorry if you didn't notice it on the listing prior to booking.
Glad you enjoyed your stay and hopefully the dog got off the lead on the farm walk - good for a chase about!

This was our second visit to this beautiful site. John once again welcomed us warmly to our wonderful and very spacious site with a pleasant chat.
The grounds are very well maintained and pleasantly spacious. For dog owners, there's a huge circular trail with a fantastic view directly behind the farm.
Excursion destinations are accessible by bike.

Thanks for your review!

Liked Brilliant Location, very clean and tidy site with friendly staff.

Disliked Not the sites fault but the 3 dogs opposite who were outside the caravan and barked every time someone passed spoiling my peaceful early morning coffee.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review - we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and found it to be a great location. We advertise that we allow children and dogs on site so there is a chance there will be some on neighboring pitches. Our pitches are fairly spacious but there is always a risk that even dogs who never normally bark are intrigued by folk walking past, no matter how far away it might be. Glad you enjoyed your stay and if you decide to book again maybe pop it in the notes and we could check for you prior to your arrival, although we can't guarantee it!

Local attractions

The park is well set for the North York Moors National Park and its many attractions, or for free range wandering around the area's market towns, garden centres and farm shops. Two fab family options are a short drive away: the theme park and the UK's most visited zoo of Flamingo Land, within 20 minutes, and spectacularly scenic rides on the North York Moors Railway, starting at Pickering 15 minutes' drive from the farm. The railway winds up at Whitby, another fab option for families, sand seekers and vampire hunters. Some stunning walks are around if you're here to hike, such as the 109-mile Cleveland Way starting at Helmsley (15 minutes' drive) to run all the way to the coast at Saltburn. For a fully coastal walk, you could also tackle the Wolds Way, starting at Hessle about an hour and a half's drive south, to end up at Filey on a 79-mile route. Other local options include Ryedale Folk Museum, a mile and a half away, the local lavender farms, and a look at the scented trade at Yorkshire Lavender at Terrington and Wolds Way Lavender in Wintringham, both within 35 minutes' drive.
