  • Quiet, relaxed site on 35 acres of land with a private 15-acre lake
  • A 20-minute drive to the Yorkshire coast and half an hour to Hull
  • Pizzeria restaurant, wifi, fishing and bar with an outdoor terrace
Get to Greengrass Park for a peaceful break in East Yorkshire countryside – this static holiday home and touring caravan site has noise and safety policies in place to keep its ambience serene. The quiet vibes mean that it’s a calm setting for a spot of fishing at the 15-acre private lake. Non-anglers, meanwhile, can sprawl out in a grassy area for a bit of a chillout session or make a beeline for nearby coastal towns like Hornsea (20 minutes’ drive) and Bridlington (half an hour). Heading to Hull (30 minutes) for the shopping, museums and aquarium also comes much recommended. Pick up essentials in Brandesburton and Leven, a couple of villages around three miles away with supermarkets, a butcher and a deli. For meals, your options include a Chinese takeaway and restaurant, an award-winning fish ‘n’ chip shop and friendly pubs. Not that you’ll need to go far for food: the site has a restaurant and pizzeria as well as a pub serving ales, draught beers, spirits and wines with an open-air terrace looking out across the lake. There’s also free wifi – fab for figuring out which attractions to amble around in the local area.

Liked: Beautiful peaceful site. Onsite pub is lovely and food good

Disliked: Poor shower in male side, needed rubber washer as leaked down pipe and no shower curtain. Otherwise fabulous x

From the manager: Thank you so much for your feedback – we’re really glad to hear that you found everything else fabulous!
We wanted to let you know that the issue with the shower on the male side has now been fully resolved. We replaced the shower all together, and a new shower curtain has been installed for added comfort and privacy.
We really appreciate you bringing it to our attention, and we hope to welcome you back again soon for an even better experience!

Liked: The setting is beautiful, relaxing. By the fishing lake. Really nice place

Disliked: No WiFi even thought it is advertised.
No washing up facilities.
Showers and toilets were clean and tidy.
We could hear loud music at almost midnight. Even though cut off point was 9pm.
We stayed 3 nights Thursday to Sunday, we went out in our converted van through the day.
Came back on Saturday evening to find someone else on our pitch. We went to the reception this was closed for the night (closes at 4pm). I emailed to complain as there were no contact numbers.
Policy said that complaints wouldn’t be upheld unless persons went to reception during their stay. The day after we were due to leave. We had to be off site by 10am so we went to reception on our way out, again this was closed. I haven’t received a reply to our email.

Liked: Touring plot right next to the lake.

Disliked: Only 4 touring plots, one of our neighbours that pitched up had no electric for nearly 2 hours, only 3 plots had electric a staff member unplugged another neighbours electric lead and plugged it in across the road while they was out so their electric lead was getting run over by the cars. A small children’s park not really for older children. We waited for the pub to open at 5.30 so we could have a game of pool as my son was board only to be told there no kids allowed on the table he is 12 not like he is a 6yr old that doesn’t know what he is doing, so that was a disappointment nothing for kids to do, was nice to wake up with the lake view but will not be going back.

Local attractions

Browse Beverley’s traditional market on a Saturday or swing by this town at any time to take in the Gothic minster and catch the horses hightailing it around the racecourse (20 minutes’ drive). It’s also worth setting off towards Skirlington Leisure Park for the famed car boot sale held on Sundays (outside of January) and to stroll through 70 acres of landscaped countryside leading down to the East Yorkshire coast. Further north (around an hour) is the edge of the North York Moors National Park, where rural police show Heartbeat was filmed, and the location of well-known seaside towns such as Scarborough and Whitby (an hour and an hour and a half, respectively). Spend time on the former's sandy beaches before roaming the ruined Gothic abbey – the inspiration for the novel Dracula – in the latter. Another famed urban settlement not to miss is the ancient city of York (an hour and 10 minutes) with its cobbled streets, Viking history and clutch of excellent independent boutiques. Walk along ancient walls circling the buildings, poke around a 13th-century Gothic cathedral with medieval stained glass and bell towers, then meander to the Monk Bar gate for an exhibition on the infamous King Richard III.
