  • Peaceful adults-only site two miles from the Norfolk Broads
  • A 15-minute drive from Norwich city centre; 25 minutes from the coast
  • Atmospheric night-time vibes from lit woodlands; café and farm shop
If boating on The Broads has long been on your bucket list, take a look here: the dog-friendly Black Barn Farm is a peaceful place to pitch up two miles from the edge of the national park. Here, the adults-only pitches are in a 22-acre field in an established orchard and surrounded by woodlands, making for a rather chilled-out stay. This area is known as the big sky country, so splendid sunsets and lights in the trees create a pretty nice night-time vibe. You’ll be able to kick off the evening with a firepit or barbecue too, as both are permitted on site. A 15-minute drive from Norwich, this site is on the edge of Salhouse, a rural Broads village. So, bridleways and footpaths may be the first thing to capture your attention, as they lead the way to walking, wildlife spotting and canoe hire in the Salhouse Broad – or there's a place to launch your own canoe or paddleboard, two miles away from the site. Convenience is key at this site, starting with the toilets and showers inside the barn, all heated with auto light switches for that extra ease. The barn also has a small farm shop and a café that serves up sizeable breakfasts plus sandwiches and snacks. Nearby, a train station and bus stop are within walking distance with regular services to Norwich city centre or the coast. Foodie? The local food shop is a 20-minute walk away along a public footpath (or a five-minute car journey). For more specific bits, there’s a bigger supermarket 10 minutes’ drive away and beer aficionados will find a brewery and pub five minutes’ drive away too.

What customers say

Chill, adults-only park with good-sized, flat sites, many with hook-ups. Facilities are modern, tidy, though showers can be tight when it's packed. The on-site barn gets a tick for its tasty tucker and local goodies. Ideal for exploring the Broads & Norwich, with handy public transport. A few grumbles about Wi-Fi and tiny sinks.

Liked The space was great, facilities were fantastic and super clean always. The on-site cafe had the tastiest breakfast and delicious freshly squeezed orange juice. We arrived before a summer fete happened on site and got to browse through more market stalls which was lovely. Our dog had lots of space to run around and explore too. Great places to visit nearby including the beautiful sandy Walcott beach which was about 25/30 minutes drive and Fairhaven Water Garden which was less than 10 minutes drive and dog-friendly too. We had a lovely stay and will definitely recommend BBF to friends and family!!

Disliked Nothing at all! Would highly recommend and visit again.

Liked We love staying at the Black Barn Farm. It has a super relaxed atmosphere with amazing facilities. It's in the perfect location for day trips in Norwich or exploring the coast. The restaurant on site is also 100/10/. Lovely breakfasts and coffee. To put it simply, it's our favourite campsite in Norfolk.

Liked Lovely relaxed site, pitches a decent size and divided by low hedges; we could choose our own pitch. There is a lovely orchard area where it was nice to wander walking the dogs. Facilities are clean and modern.

Disliked A few more toilets and showers would be useful for when the site is full. Also a noticeboard with information of local walks / amenities would be helpful.

Local attractions

Nosy about Norwich (15 minutes’ drive)? Those of you who aren’t familiar with this cultural city will find there’s much to stick your nose into, from bargain hunting around the old market to a full-on shopping trip or a pitstop tour of the independent eateries and historic sites… the highlight reel includes the hilltop Norwich Castle and the 11th-century cathedral. Those of you who are keen to weave a bit of the seaside into your way will want to head on over to the sandy beach and dunes at Winterton beach (35 minutes) or onto Great Yarmouth (25 minutes). This seaside resort town is all about the traditional, including a funfair, sandy beaches and the Sea Life Great Yarmouth aquarium. Once you’ve picked out those colourful fishies in the tanks, bigger animals wander around the local wildlife parks and zoos. Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens (25 minutes) has red pandas, tigers and leopards among them, while Pettitts Animal Adventure Park (25 minutes) couples up snakes, wallabies and alpacas with rides and playgrounds.
