  • Spacious family-friendly lodges near Evesham in Worcestershire
  • A 15-minute drive to Broadway, and Stratford-upon-Avon half an hour
  • Self-contained lodges with heating, bathroom and kitchen
Torn between a stay in the Vale of Evesham, Shakespeare Country or the Cotswolds? No need to make any decisions at all if you book break at Avonvale Holiday Lodges in Worcestershire, for all three are under half an hour’s drive away. Between Evesham and the pretty village of Offenham and easily accessed from the B4510, this small family-run site has traditional hand-built lodges of various sizes and dimensions, sleeping up to seven people – making them just the job for family and friends get-togethers. Each one is double glazed and centrally heated, so you’ll always be nice and warm, whatever the weather is doing outside. There’s lots of space in the living areas, which have dining tables and comfy sofas for lazy evenings in front of the TV. Kitchens are kitted out with cooker, microwave, fridge freezer and general bits and bobs. All bedding and towels are provided (giving you less to pack), and useful bits for babies – like high chairs and cots – are available too. Each lodge has its own private decking and barbecue so you can grill up supper on warmer days. Pick up gourmet treats from Evesham (10 minutes) shops, but if you fancy a night off from the stove, book a table at the well-known half-timbered Fleece Inn at Bretforton (both 10 minutes’ drive). Don’t want to take the car? Have a 20-minute stroll down to the local pub on the banks of the River Avon.

Holly 3 bedroom lodge (seven person)

Liked Overlooked sheep in a field.
Communication with management / owners was pleasant.

Disliked Right next to an incredibly noisy & fast road. It was impossible to sleep without earplugs.

Lodges were filthy - dead flies, dust, mould, and dirt. Crockery hadn’t been washed properly, sofas were covered in crumbs, floors were filthy.

Sofas & beds were so uncomfortable. Bedding was old. Pillows were hard.

Wardrobe door randomly fell off on me.

Oven was poor and did not cook anything properly.

Furniture was old and lodges were decorated with no consideration.

WiFi was too slow for TikTok.

From the manager: We are most surprised and disappointed by your review, comments and low scores, especially as you friends who were staying in the identical lodge next to yours, texted me a nice thank you message on their departure, informing me that they had had no issues during their stay which they had enjoyed.
On arrival I personally welcomed you and showed you into the large spacious detached 3 bedroomed log cabin. I informed you that we live on site and if you had any problems, then to phone us and we would do our best to sort them out. I note that you stayed for the whole duration of your booking and didn't raise any issues during your stay, had you have done then we would have welcomed the opportunity to address then. You score cleanliness just 1 out of 10! If it had really been that dirty then I am sure you wouldn't have stayed or would have at lease asked for the lodge to be recleaned!
We are pleased you enjoyed the open view across the fields to the from of the lodge. Behind the lodge there is approx. 10m of grass before a thick conifer hedge and a ditch before reaching the Offenham Road (B4510) a "B" road. Had you informed us before your stay that you are very sensitive to noise or a light sleeper, then we could have recommended a lodge that further away from the road, as we are a 4 acre site.
There are 3 sofas in the spacious lounge plus a arm chair. On your day of departure two of the leather sofas were replace.
We provided free wifi for your guests but due to our semi rural location it is too slow for TikTok. It is not included in the price but it provided complimentary at our expense. We note that you score value for money just 2 out of 10, despite paying just £27.50 per person per night. We wish you good luck in your search for finding better value accommodation in the future.

Local attractions

When out and about exploring the Cotswolds National Landscape, Broadway (15 minutes’ drive) is a clever place to start, with its typical mellow-stone cottages, foodie pubs and indie shops. Close by, Broadway Tower (20 minutes) is an ancient beacon site with a cracking viewing platform for casting your eyes over the undulating Cotswolds countryside. Big-hitting Cotswolds attractions for kids include the rare-breed horses, lambs to feed (in spring) and wildlife walks at Cotswold Farm Park (half an hour), brainchild of TV presenter Adam Henson. Just on the northern extremities in the National Landscape is the mighty Warwick Castle (40 minutes), where kids can dress in medieval jousting outfits, explore dark and moody castle dungeons or see birds of prey handled by expert falconers. Stratford-upon-Avon (half an hour) pulls in the punters to watch performances at the Royal Shakespeare Company, see where one of the country's greatest playwrights grew up at Shakespeare’s Birthplace or visit Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, with its pretty half-timbered facade and leafy gardens. Get a feel for the town with an open-topped bus tour or take a cruise down the River Avon from Bancroft Gardens.
