  • Family-friendly Lincolnshire caravan park at Chapel St Leonards
  • Ingoldmells Beach 15 minutes’ walk; Fantasy Island 10 minutes’ drive
  • Fishing lake and well-stocked tackle shop; pubs 10 minutes’ drive
Tucked into the seaside village of Chapel St Leonards, 15 minutes’ drive from Skegness on the Lincolnshire coast, Lakeland Caravan Park is a family-run and family-friendly caravan park that's somewhat removed from the busy main east-coast seaside resorts. Being a popular place, this site still gets busy during the school holidays, so if you’re after a quieter sojourn it's best to book for spring or autumn. But whichever month you choose for your break, you'll be staying on a well-drained pitch with electric hook-up, and you can use toilets, showers and washing-up facilities in the brick facilities block, which has disabled access. Dogs are welcome and can be walked on Ingoldmells Beach (15 minutes’ stroll). Having the beach nearby is excellent of course, and another one of the big draws at this site is the fishing – there's a lake within the grounds where anglers can cast out their lines daily, and weekly matches are open to all caravan site guests. There’s a very well-stocked tackle shop selling fresh bait and everything from budget rod-and-reel deals to get novices started to fishing gear from top brands. Sea fishing is also available from Ingoldmells Beach. Anything else you might need? There are shops, lots of pubs, amusement arcades and night-time entertainment all within 10 minutes’ drive of the pitches.

What customers say

Great spot near the beach and shops. Friendly staff and a popular fishing lake. Facilities are clean but some are dated & a bit of a walk. Mostly peaceful, but a few noise complaints and some bird droppings.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Ideal location - next to beach, in walking distance shops and entertainment.

Tranquil and peaceful

Clean toilet and shower facilities

Fresh water on tap

Friendly neighbours (Local geese)

Plenty of space allocated to pitch tent

Disliked Was unable to use our BBQ. So had to take onto the beach to use

Shower button constantly had to be pressed in to work which is hard to do and wash so couldn't properly wash.

No toilet or shower in tent section of camp so had to walk to the touring section which wasn't safe in the middle of the night and my son injured himself (fell over) due to lack of light walking to toilets in the dark.

Liked Very close access to the beach

Disliked The showers and toilets are disgusting.
The pitches are so close together, and uneven.
The children on site have been dragged up.
To stay an extra few hours it’s £27
And you’ve to use a fob for everywhere! The fob cost £10! Get £10 back when you take it back but it’s a right hassle!

Unfortunately would not stay again for the above reasons.

Liked Proximity to beach and Chapel St Leonards.

Disliked Shower and toilet block far too far away from tent pitches.
2 female showers for the volume of people on site is simply not enough.
We were told to pitch 3 meters away from other tents on arrival. This we did. Came back from being out 2 days later and tents either side were much closer than 3 meters. We booked a site where your car could be on your pitch. Once the new tents arrived, we were not able to fit a car next to our tent because of the above issues with neighbours being too close.
Quiet times were stated as from 10pm-7pm. These were not adhered to with music and loud banging from other campers carrying on way past 10pm - including a game of hide and seek in which people hide and talked behind our tent.
Far too many tents crammed onto the site over the weekend. We did not get a 'pitch'. That many of us were squeezed on, it felt like a festival which is not what we booked.
Lastly, goose poo everywhere. All over every grass and path, all over the site where we pitched the tent. Not pleasant.

Liked Closeness to beach and other attractions also the fishing shop on site is brilliant

Disliked The constant smell of weed from other campers. The disabled facilities or lack of( a toilet and washbasin, no hand dryer, no mirror and no shower). And finally it would be better if there was tents on the caravan pitches and vice versa as they don’t need to be close to the toilet where as tent campers do as most don’t have their own toilet

Liked Brilliant place could do with a shop that sell camping things and day to day things (bread, milk, eggs) could also do with swapping the campsite with the motor homes so the toilet, shower, washing up + water would be closer to the campers.
It is a stunning site! We loved every minute there

Disliked I think the rules should be more encouraged for example the quiet after 11pm. There was times when we could still hear people's speakers after 11. Also the no ball games. While kids will be kids I think considering the beach is so close to the site the "no ball games" rule should be better valued. Take your kids to the beach if they want to play football. Don't the peace for other residents. Also while the geese are absolutely stunning and completely harmless I think the site should be cleaned alot more regularly as there is alot of bird poo or maybe even consider placing another bin close to each pitch with poo bags + wipes so residents can clean the poo up that's near their pitch. There should definitely be a food shop + camping supplies shop on site. And the fence around the pond could do with a privacy fence.

Liked Amazing staff, the site was very clean including toilets & showers! Toilet rolls always topped up too, close to the beach, arcades, shops! And the lake is a stunning view to wake up too 😍

Disliked The only issue for me personally is the walk to the toilets due to my incontinence problems!
A toilet tent would be needed next time

Local attractions

Fan of bright lights and big amusements? The famed Fantasy Island theme park (10 minutes’ drive) in Skegness opens up stalls and rides when summertime hits. There’s more action over at Skegness Pier (20 minutes), including bowling and laser tag games. If you’re keener to avoid crowds and unwind on quiet sands, Sutton on Sea (20 minutes) should do the trick with its long sandy beach. Another secluded bay is Huttoft beach (15 minutes), a quiet stretch where many folk like to go surfing, swimming and fishing. Inland, take your hiking boots off to the trails of the Lincolnshire Wolds National Landscape (20 minutes). For some wildlife watching, there are a couple of really nice spots within a short drive of the park. The first is Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve (25 minutes), a seasonal habitat for waders, wildfowl and birds of prey set back along the coast. The other is Natureland Seal Sanctuary (20 minutes), a centre that rescues seal pups. Other adorable residents include alpacas, penguins, reptiles and colourful butterflies, so there should be plenty to feast your eyes on.
