Μου άρεσε I liked the beautiful scenery, cleanliness of the whole site, mowed grass and excellent facilities.
The compost toilets were exceptionally clean and not at all smelly in the hot weather. The showers were also clean. There were also plenty of wood shavings and bottled water. We didn't want for anything during our visit.

We also enjoyed watching the swifts flying low over the field.

Δεν μου άρεσε This is not a complaint, it's nature at its best I suppose. A wasp nest was forming within the horsebox that you washed up in. When contacting Molly to let her know, she answered promptly and was informative. I cannot fault anything about this campsite.

We had the wasps nest removed as soon as we could however we had a job finding someone who could come quickly and move the nest as we did not want to destroy it. Rest assured our wasps have now been relocated and hopefully won't return to the rather inconvenient location they were in, thank you for your understanding :) x

There is a tap for hand washing on the outside of the horse trailer conversion, apologies if you did not see it, we will look to sign post the handwashing area for future campers, thank you for bringing this to our attention. Μου άρεσε We had a wonderful first-time camping experience at Whinney Hill Farm. The whole place is peaceful, with lovely farm walks and beautiful horses all around. It’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy nature.

What made our stay truly special was the hospitality. Julian (sorry if I’ve misspelled the name) was incredibly kind and helpful. As first-time campers, we weren’t sure about a lot of things, but she guided us so patiently and made us feel completely at home. Her support meant a lot to us and made the whole experience smooth and memorable.

Highly recommend for anyone looking for a calm, nature-filled getaway and amazing hosts!

Μου άρεσε Large space to choose pitch up position from. The wheelbarrows to help bring your stuff to the campsite was a really sweet touch. Short drive to shops and pubs if needed.

We had a lovely tour of the stables before we checked out which made the stay really special. Thank you! We will be back.

Μου άρεσε Good clean facilities. Quiet and rural. Nice to be able to have a small fire and just relax for the evening.

Μου άρεσε Peaceful, tranquil site in quiet location with lovely view.

Δεν μου άρεσε No cars allowed on site so you have to transport all your gear in a wheelbarrow to your pitch, then back to your car at end of stay. For a mature couple in our late 60's on a very hot day, this proved to be extremely hard work. A group of much younger and fitter people staying on the site commented to us that they also found it difficult to transport all the gear they had.

Από τον διαχειριστή: I’m genuinely sorry and disappointed to hear that transporting your gear to your pitch was such hard work, especially in the heat. We completely understand that taking a car onto the campsite would be much easier and it is something we have tried in the past.
The no-car rule was introduced from the middle of last year after a number of guests got stuck trying to drive onto the field — even during dry spells. Some areas of the ground remain soft and unpredictable, and we’ve found that restricting vehicles is the best way to prevent damage, keep guests safe, and protect the land. As a greener camping club site, we also try to maintain the natural setting with as little disruption to the environment and local wildlife as possible.
The campsite is run solely by myself and Harriet, alongside our full-time roles at the charity, so unfortunately we’re not able to be on-site at all times. That said, whenever we are around — which is quite often — we’re always more than happy to help guests move their things if they ask us. We completely understand that it can be physically demanding, especially in hot weather. Harriet and I were on-site during your arrival and would have been glad to help, if we had known you were struggling.
All proceeds from the campsite go directly toward our work rescuing and rehabilitating vulnerable ex-racehorses — something that has become even more essential due to reduced funding in recent years. While I’m truly sorry that this part of your stay fell short, I want to thank you sincerely for supporting our mission just by staying with us :)
Even though you mentioned you won’t be returning, please know that if you ever reconsider, we’d be more than happy to help with getting your things to and from your pitch to make things easier for you both. In light of your review I will try to make it clearer on our page that cars are no permitted on the site. Thank you again for your feedback.
