Abbey Home Farm

Μου άρεσε One night stay in my campervan whilst on a course in Cirencester. Perfectly flat pitches and park where you like within the field. You do have to register before the shop shuts and get gate codes but you can come and go as you please after that.
Nice little 25 minute walking route marked around the fields was a nice way to stretch my legs. Showers were partially enclosed so you’d have to be hardier than me to shower on a cold day, otherwise all good, simple, no frills. back to nature. A lower hedge on the North side of the van field would be great for the views but I get that the wildlife comes first. All good, thank you.

Μου άρεσε A warm and accommodating welcome (not least due to be arriving a little late!) from the off. Paperwork signed off in the well stocked shop (picked up some beer, chocolate and milk too-vital!).

The camp site is a short walk from the cafe and shop but allows a great view of the organic farm. The camp site is well spread out beyond a fabulous wooded area which houses the eco toilets and showers etc. They are proper organic and rustic and done so deliberately. Don’t expect fancy materials and smooth surfaces. I love the way it is done.

I camped in peaceful and spacious field with classic ‘big sky’ views across rolling fields and woodlands beyond.

Δεν μου άρεσε The only issue (hardly that) is vehicle noise in the distance at night. I live in a very quiet part of the world so am sensitive to it. But you can hear a distant sound of traffic all night. I popped my ear plugs in and gone. Just a heads up but do not let it out you off!!

Μου άρεσε The view from the yurt camp was stunning! The sound of owls at night and clear skies with amazing view of stars!
Loved the spaciousness of the yurts.
Also the short walk to such a fabulous cafe and farm shop. Really grateful for the cafe on a rainy weekend.

Δεν μου άρεσε We had to cook and shelter under the field kitchen roof in a downpour one evening which was fun and part of the spirit. But we all agreed it would make a huge difference to have a second shelter with a couple of picnic tables in so we could all eat under cover

Μου άρεσε Almost every thing it's my second time within a few weeks even managed to do the farm trail with 2 walking sticks will definitely be returning again

Δεν μου άρεσε The only thing I was disappointed with being a bank holiday weekend 2 of the toilets in the woods where locked and so was the disabled toilet i didn't need them myself but there were quite a few children on site and maybe the steps leading up to the toilets might have been a little bit too steep for them

Μου άρεσε We loved our visit to abbey home farm. The farm shop was amazing with plenty fresh produce and the campsite was perfect. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The site was not at all overcrowded, we liked how you could choose where to pitch up, and without the car next to us felt we were realy out in the wild. Fires and bbq were allowed so this was also great. It was very peaceful.

Δεν μου άρεσε The toilets were stinky, but I suppose that's what to expect from eco toilets.

Μου άρεσε Eco-vibe, quiet location, pretty woodland and open showers. Feels like a secret getaway.
Shop and cafe nearby were lovely.

Δεν μου άρεσε That campervans are forced to pitch in a really small field surrounded by hedges whilst tents have lots of space and beautiful views.
No provision for disposing of rubbish, had to take away which isn’t pleasant for a long journey.
Lights in the toilets would be good.
Cold water for washing up.

Από τον διαχειριστή: Thanks for your feedback. The vehicle/non vehicle side issue is a tricky one!
When we started over 20yrs ago we wanted to provide a field free of vehicles that gave a calm and peaceful feel and crucially a space for little ones to roll around in nature safely! Lots of us have vans now and can absolutely see the issue but in our hearts we still want to honour those in tents looking for that totally vehicle free expereince. So hard to be all things to all people but we hope guests can understand.

Μου άρεσε Very peaceful site with a lovely atmosphere.

The staff in the shop were very friendly and helpful, answering questions in great detail and always trying their best to assist.

The showers were nice, clean, and very warm.

The other toilets were clean and easy to use.

Δεν μου άρεσε Unfortunately, we were near a loud family who played music both early in the morning and later in the evening, which took away from the otherwise peaceful setting.

Having to input the gate code every time was a bit inconvenient. A closing time in line with the shop hours might work better.

The showers, while warm and clean, would benefit from a small table or a few more hooks, as there wasn’t anywhere to put shampoo or wash bags.

A major downside to the toilet facilities was the urinal, which was a bale of hay and smelt unpleasant.

There was a disabled toilet available, but it wasn’t fit for purpose. Access required going up a steep ramp with no platform, and the outward-opening coded door made it very difficult to use. The pathway was also overgrown, and although we were told we could get a code from the shop, it did not appear suitable for wheelchair users.

Re the music, we do urge guests to let us know if others are making a disturbance (which is v unsual as we don't take large adult groups).

Δεν μου άρεσε I have used saw dust toilets before and they have been clean and smelling of saw dust, these toilets were disgusting, the smell was overpowering which in turn attracted the flies.

i arrived in my van and the plot where vehicles go was in between large hedge rows, which meant no views of the surrounding area, there is a large field where tents go, which had great views, no reason why vehicles could not use it as well. Very disappointed.

No waste disposal, you have to take your rubbish away with you, also, no where to empty your Elson tank, again this has to be taken away
