Running of the Bulls Pamplona Camping

If you fancy a break from the partying in Pamplona, there’s a chill-out area back at base, plus a big wooded park and river to wander round and down. You can take things down a notch around Pamplona too if the pace is getting hectic: take a Segway tour of the town, visit the planetarium (especially spacey if you’ve been up all night…), bike through the lush riverside park or go go-karting. This is also one of the best places in the world to work up an appetite: Basque food, and especially the bite-size pintxos snacks served up in bars (some free, all worth paying for) makes for five-star munchies: try the fish cheeks (yep), grilled foie gras with caramelised apple or the classic olive, pepper, anchovy combo on a cocktail stick (it beats cheese and pineapple…). If you want to get right away from the city and the parties, it’s a 20-minute drive to Alloz reservoir, clean and serene and a top spot for windsurfing, kayaking and paddleboarding.
