Belvoir Castle Steam and Country Show
Got plans for the August bank holiday weekend yet? How about planning a trip to a place that makes planning fabulously easy by rolling heaps of entertainment, food options and accommodation into one excellent Leicestershire location?
The event in question is the Belvoir Castle Steam and Country Show, held from 23 to 25 August 2025 in the gorgeous setting of Belvoir Castle, a stately home about 15 minutes’ drive from Grantham. Booking a camping pitch here gives you the chance to stay in these splendid grounds, and also give you complimentary access to the show throughout your stay.
You’ll be free to come and go during your stay so you can easily mix up a little bit of exploring the area (walks, outdoor activities or more historic estate visits, perhaps) with dipping into the various displays and entertainments the show has to offer. The event centres around the various vehicles – expect traction engines, classic cars, vintage tractors, miniatures, fairground organs and the like – but there’s also a busy programme of displays, activities like archery and axe throwing and kids’ fun like puppet shows.
For food, you’re welcome to bring a barbecue to do your own meals, but don’t forget there’s a tempting catering area and licensed bar within the show. The bar hosts entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings as well.
As for the pitches, they’re spacious and well marked, with access to water points, portable toilets and Elsan waste points. Dogs are welcome to join you here.

Tear yourselves away from all the displays at the show to explore the estate more widely – if you buy a Belvoir Castle day ticket you’ll be able to take a guided tour of the building, explore the gardens and take the kids to have fun at the adventure playground and animal park. There’s a great retail area here with a farm shop, garden centre among other things.
If that’s whetted your appetite for country estates, you may also like to pay a visit to other local venues like Woolsthorpe Manor (20 minutes’ drive) and National Trust - Belton Estate (25 minutes), or stroll along the terraces at Easton Walled Gardens (20 minutes), on the site of a former manor house.
Kids not into such things? Perhaps they’d prefer a run about at Melton Country Park (20 minutes) or meeting the cute residents of J and J Alpacas (25 minutes). Meanwhile, grownups who’d like to add a bit of adrenaline to their weekend can leap from a plane at Skydive Langar (15 minutes).
