Tilføj oplysninger om din virksomhedIf you’re keen to find a peaceful riverside site you may well surmise that a place called Camping La Rivière would be a good bet. And you’d be quite right, as this Vienne site stretches out over 40 acres right on the banks of the Dive river just on the edge of Valence-en-Poitou.
That location means plenty of pretty green views to admire, along with river access for folk who fancy trying their luck fishing for trout and pike. There’s also a pond here that’s more suitable for beginners and giving children their first go at fishing. Canoeing, kayaking, boat trips and paddleboarding are all available locally if you really want to rack up the water-based hours.
Back on site, leisure facilities include two playgrounds, a bouncy castle, a miniature golf course and space for games of pétanque, football and volleyball. It’s also likely you’ll spend a fair amount of time at the aquatic area, which has a covered pool (open throughout the season) and two outdoor pools with waterslides and a water play area (open through the summer months).
Summer stays can also be filled with activities on site – the team organises programmes for kids (treasure hunts, crafts, mini discos and so forth) and grownups (outdoor fitness sessions and sports tournaments) along with family games and excursions. You’ll be kept busy into the evening as well, with the likes of karaoke, quizzes and themed meals.
In terms of food, there’s a bread service that runs throughout the season, with a snack bar/takeaway and grocery shop opening up for the summer and a restaurant and bar giving more options in July and August.

If you can drag yourself away from the pool, there’s plenty to do close by. Top of any list should be a family outing to Futuroscope theme park, half an hour's drive away – plan to spend the whole day here exploring its virtual-reality rides and 4D shows.
Kids are often keen on animal encounters, so keep them happy by visiting the chimps at Vallée des Singes Romagne (15 minutes’ drive). They can also get up close to alligators at La Planète des Crocodiles, and chances are they’ll also enjoy scaling rope trails and meeting camels at DéfiPlanet’ (both 40 minutes).
Get the hiking boots on to explore Le Puits d’Enfer (half an hour) or hire a boat to paddle around Marais Poitevin Regional Natural Park (50 minutes). For a change of pace, head to the elegant city of Poitiers for Clain riverside walks, museums and a lively restaurant scene (30 minutes). A little further afield, charming medieval Chauvigny (50 minutes) is also worth a visit.
