Přidejte své obchodní údajeHow positively posh: Camping Château de Montrouant is un petit and fably pretty site in the grounds of an utterly fab family-owned château in the Brionnais region, within an hour’s drive of the watersports activities and sights of Mâcon.
And as if the splendidness of this site’s setting isn’t enough, it gets even better: plonk appreciators will be muchly chuffed to learn that also among the grounds of this resplendent 14th-century château is a vineyard that produces both red and white (and entirely natural) vinos, so tipples on site are going to be a given too...
Several footpaths for scenic walks are around the site and in the local vicinity, and a small lake for fishing also lies next door. Also in the lush locale of Château de Montrouant are various outdoorsy pursuits and attractions for you to get yourself stuck into, such as golf and canoeing for active sorts or sightseeing around châteaux, caves and, naturellement, a long list of lovely vineyards for wobbly winery tours and local-wine sipping.
Among the lush leisure facilities at the site are an outdoor swimming pool and neighbouring paddling pool for water-based family fun, as well as pétanque and tennis courts and a playground for equivalent levels of fun on land. In high season, the park’s tremendously friendly team organises fun kids' activities to keep little hands and brains busy, as well as wine-tasting sessions for grownups – and jogs around the estate to counteract the inevitable effects.
Speaking of which, morning munches are sorted by the tasty bread and pastries baked on site daily, and later in the day (a couple of times a week) you’ll be able to order something of a takeaway variety; otherwise, if you’re keen to mingle with fellow vino aficionados, then the regular themed meal evenings are where you can do just that.
Other amenities within this lovely French estate include a washing-up area and accessible washrooms with toilets, showers and a baby bathroom, and should you have the misfortune to slosh vin rouge over your pristine holiday garb, then you can easily avert permanent-stain disaster over at the launderette. Free wifi is also available should the urge strike to check what’s going on outside your fancy new château life.

Might a spot of subterranean adventure sound like your sort of active pursuit? If so, the Blanot Caves an hour’s scenic drive away are most likely where you should head; if not, then perhaps a canoe trip from Digoin along the Loire could be a trip-topping alternative.
For those with a sweet tooth and a penchant for history might rather enjoy combining both with a trip over to wander around the abbey, castle and chocolate shops in Cluny; if you’re attempting to steer clear of sweet treats (or prefer them to be of a slightly more boozy variety), then steer yourself instead toward nearby Château de Pierreclos for a wander around its vineyard (several more besides are in the area if you’d like to make more of this wine-tasting theme).
If an adventure park sounds like your sort of thing (ask the kids, they’ll likely scream Oui!), then one is over at Givry, around 70 minutes’ drive away: offspring of all ages (and grownups too) can have a fun-packed day here of tentatively treading across wooden ramps and rope bridges, clambering up cargo nets and zooming down ziplines.
