Exploring Götaland’s lake district with the kids? Then you’ll need somewhere family-friendly to lay your head, so have a peek at TIPI Ljungby Semesterby & CampingPark. Set on the outskirts of Ljungby, the site is immersed in greenery, and whether you’re overnighting or hanging around to explore the area, you’ll have a peaceful stay. The owners pride themselves on making guests more than welcome – and this pride clearly extends to the carefully landscaped site where flower beds are planted with strawberries, herbs and flowers. Potatoes, squash, herbs and various vegetables are available for guests to use, and feel free to forage for blueberries, lingonberries and chanterelle mushrooms on site too. The summer café serves a daily lunch buffet with Swedish home cooking as well as family favourites like hamburgers, sandwiches and coffee – they are all well priced and all home-made. If you’re arriving after a long drive, take care to pre-order supper for the night you arrive on site. As the campsite is run on sustainable lines, no food is allowed to go to waste, so any leftovers are sold at a discount when the café shuts at the end of the day. Get stuck into miniature golf on the site. Site guests have free entry to the heated outdoor swimming pool right next door, or there’s an indoor pool at Äventyrsbadet (five minutes’ walk) with waterslides and Jacuzzis (for a small charge). The site is also less than 10 minutes’ walk from Ljungby Athletics Arena, the ice-hockey arena and a multi-sports hall.

Disliked: Öppettider för restaurang var olika dag till dag, liten lekpark på campingområdet.

Local attractions

Whenever you want a light stroll, whether it's to help you with waking up first thing in the morning or stretching your legs after a heavy dinner, there are jogging and walking paths that can be accessed directly from the site. Those who’d rather save their precious energy for swinging on the green can take a short 10-minute drive to the local golf course. There are lots of destinations around for day-long jaunts too, beginning with the Laganland Elk Park (10 minutes) where you can bring an apple as a peace offering to the elks. Lake Bolmen (20 minutes) is a pretty spot for canoeing and fishing, and it’s said to have up to 365 islands, so if you have a curious mindset, this is the place to be. Another lake destination is within driving distance of the site: Bräkentorp (10 minutes). It has a good package of hiking trails, and there’s always the option to cool off at the Bräkentorpasjön Lake Beach (10 minutes) once you’re done walking.
