Mad about mountain bikes? If you weren’t already, you almost certainly will be by the time you leave Camping Ciudad del Ciclismo, in a splendid Castellon location a kilometre from Cervera del Maestre. This is the place to come if you want to fill your days with lots of bike action – there are six kilometres of mountain bike trail on site (with something for all ages and abilities), and access to guided cycling routes of 60 to 120 kilometres once you’ve warmed up on the site trails. Bike rental is available on site too, along with mountain bike classes to help you with the skills you’ll need to tackle it all confidently. If you’ve got any energy left after all that, you may like to turn to the local hiking trails, or the tennis courts and swimming pool that are just 500 metres up the road. Alternatively, it might be time to sign up for one of the relaxation and flexibility classes back at the campsite… On site, the dog-friendly pitches are set up among ancient olive trees that provide plenty of shade, and guests have access to some handy facilities including bathrooms with hot showers, and a barbecue area. A restaurant-café is also on hand for feeding you up after all your bike-based endeavours. More eating options are about 10 minutes’ walk away in Cervera del Maestre, which also has shops where you can pick up supplies for your barbecues or picnics. Peniscola, half an hour’s drive away, is a bigger town with beaches, a historic old town and a 13th-century castle.

Liked: Plek op grit met stroom, schoon. Prachtige omgeving. Mountainbikers kunnen hun hart ophalen hier.

Disliked: Het sanitaire gedeelte lag wel een stukje lopen vanaf de camping maar verder top.

Liked: Lovely rural setting with fantastic views and less than half an hour walk to the village above, with a lovely bakery. Fantastic facilities and bar on site. Really peaceful place to stay.

Liked: Everything! The location, divine. The staff, lovely. The nearby town, charming. The facilities, great. The walks, exhilarating. The cycling, well it looked fun for those with the legs for it.

Disliked: Ummmmm. I saw a cloud occasionally.

Liked: This is the nicest site we have visited so far on the trip. It is in a very peaceful location in the hills with distant views of the med. Pitches are served with electric and water with washing facilities close by. The toilets and showers are as others have reported a bit of a trek but they are good and kept spotlessly clean. There is a nice bar/restaurant on site which is very good value. Pool open but unheated and refreshing in October. Site is accessed with a newly resurfaced road. Please follow the signs and not the satnav and approach the site uphill not downhill from the village. Nice cycle cross area on the site and great road/trail cycling around the whole area. It does have good wifi on the site which was not mentioned in the blurb.

Liked: The facilities at this site were some of the best I’ve seen (albeit a very long way away!) the snack bar was good and the staff were lovely. The actual pitches are very basic but with electricity and water. Very peaceful and obviously great if you want to get out on your mountain bike. If you hike up to the village there is a great little village shop and a bakery!

Disliked: Not dislikes as such just observations. The facilities were a very long way away from the site, if you need to go in the night be prepared for a trek!
Also if you are not into mountain biking (my husband is but I’m not) then you are really quite isolated and the town (15 min walk up a huge hill) is very quiet.

Disliked: Suite à un problème ayant nécessité une prise en charge par les urgences de l'hôpital (certificat médical pouvant être fourni), nous avons demandé à décaler le séjour d'une semaine (donc du 13 au 20 septembre).
Nous n'avons jamais eu de réponse mais mon règlement a bien été encaissé, ce qui n'est pas très correct.

Local attractions

Time for a break from the bikes? Perhaps you’d like to take a half-hour stroll to the Centre d'Interpretació Molí de l’Oli to explore the museum housed in an old olive oil mill – or maybe give your legs more of a stretch with a walk along one of the trails at Parc Natural Tinença de Benifassà (an hour’s drive). Soaking up a little bit of the area’s history is a possibility, too – perhaps with a stroll around the pretty medieval town of Sant Mateu (15 minutes) or the ancient walled city of Morella (45 minutes). Castell d'Alcalà de Xivert (45 minutes) is another fascinating place to visit, with both Moorish and Christian influences visible in the building. Or, of course, you could head down to the coast for a day on the beach in Peniscola (half an hour). While you’re there, take a break from the sands to stroll through the Old Town and look out for places like the House of Shells and the castle.

All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
There is no reception at this site. Please check in at the Bar instead.
