Might you care for lush mountain views on your Spanish holiday? How about pitching up in the province of Malaga, surrounded by three national parks in a setting among olive trees, centenary trees and forests – and a piffling distance from the fab old town of Ronda? Sure you would... so settle down for some significant time at Camping El Sur. El Sur is a peaceful, roomy and family-friendly site, close to the Sierra de Grazalema, Sierra de las Nieves and Los Alcornocales natural parks. Stacks more spectacular sights are within easy driving distance: ask the knowledgeable El Sur reception team for info on the best attractions and scenic car ride routes. Should you care to stick around on site for a spell (you surely should), the modern facilities include miniature golf, ping pong tables and a summer pool scenically set among greenery and flowers. A bar-restaurant serves traditional local food along with tapas and homemade cakes – you might very much care for all these foodie goodies also.

  • The outdoor swimming pool is open between 01/06 and 30/09 (subject to weather conditions).
  • Twin axle vehicles are not permitted on site.
  • No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Liked: The welcome from Carmen and Loredana was just lovely. We had a great pitch -,completely flat and suitable for all weathers. Sanitary block spotless and there was hot water for washing up in a pleasant utility area. Laundry area also good. Easy walk into Ronda. Great setting.

Liked: This campsite was brilliant.The staff were so helpful and pleasant. We were there for 9 days in mostly inclement weather
( unheard of for this time of year so the locals say). We had a choice of pitch and were happy with the space we chose though it would have been tighter had we chosen to put up our awning but plenty of people did.There was a supermarket in the village and Ronda was doable on foot.
The restaurant on site serves the most devine food. We had take aways because we had our dog with us and it was too cold/ wet to sit outside the restaurant.
Would certainly go back

Liked: We got a warm welcome, excellent customer service, from the staff on reception, both Lorri and the other lady couldn’t be more helpful, this is very important as that’s your first impression of the site. We had a problem with the weather therefore instead of arrival on Tuesday we couldn’t arrive to the Thursday, this was not a problem they just amended our arrival date. Site was lovely, very tidy and the toilets were very clean, staff cleaned them through out the day and checked them before they finished at night. We loved the site plus Ronda therefore we extended our stay. We will definitely be back. Thanks again for making us feel very welcome.

Disliked: Nothing we didn’t like, everything was excellent.

Liked: Very well organised site with big level pitches, excellent facilities and welcoming staff. We had a pitch under a huge olive tree for shade. It took us 20 mins to walk into lovely Ronda - it was very hot so treated ourselves to a taxi back for about 10 euros. The restaurant is good and we didn't have to book a table even though the campsite was full. You can order bread to collect in the morning and there is a small shop.

Disliked: The showers could use some new shower heads!

Liked: Amazing site, would definitely recommend.
Pool is lovely, pitches are level perfect for caravans and motorhomes. Showers and toilets are modern and clean.
Walk in Ronda is about 25 minutes, plenty to see and do the bridge is stunning especially at sunset.

Local attractions

To the mountaintop city of Ronda first, for shops, restaurants, tapas bars and Moorish sites such as the Arab baths, Ronda bullring (one of the oldest in Spain), the Palacio de Mondragón and the gardens – and spectacular views – of Paseo de Blas Infante. Ronda's also famed for its El Tajo gorge, where the Guadalevín river gushes through the city centre: stop off on the 18th-century bridge spanning the gorge for stunning views over the Serranía de Ronda mountains. This beaut part of Andalusia is a land of high peaks, Spanish fir forests and the white villages of the Ruta de los Pueblos Blancos and their buildings dating back to Phoenician and Roman times. The best known of these is probably Setenil de las Bodegas, where houses hang over the Trejo river; other must-sees are Olvera, Grazalema, Algodonales, El Gastor and Zahara de la Sierra, all most picworthy indeed. Caves, caverns, chasms and caving are popular picks too: take a trip to see the 25,000 year old wall paintings of Cueva del Hundidero-Gato and Cueva de la Pileta, making up Andalusia's biggest cave system. The caves are about half an hour's drive away and can be visited in groups of up to 20 – booking in advance is essential, so ask the Camping El Sur reception team to assist. Fishing, horse riding, paragliding, hot air ballooning and greenway cycling trails are all within easy reach.
