  • A 15-minute walk from the beach and 15 minutes' drive to Marbella
  • Bar-restaurant with cosy snug/library, sofa, internet and fireplace
  • Pools, sunbathing terrace, playground and traditional local meals
There's a snugly cosy bar part of Camping and Bungalows La Buganvilla on the outskirts of Marbella – worth mentioning here as it could be assumed that travellers Marbella-bound may, just possibly, be interested in bars...? Although it's well placed for splendid Costa del Sol options like the aforesaid Marbella as well as Torremolinos and Málaga (and heaps of beaches), La Buganvilla's bar should be lurked around for some leisurely time too. As well as the main bar and restaurant area, there's a cosy snug/ reading room with comfy sofa and free internet for your slothful use, with a fireplace to bask in front of as you work your way through your chosen tome... wherever in the world you are, in front of a fire with a book is a mighty fine place to be. If all this leaves you too lazy to even idly wander the 15 minutes or so to the beach, idly wander along to the pool complex instead, where a pool and a paddling pool with roomy neighbouring terrace await your splashing or sunbathing self. (The kids can burn off any remaining energy at the site playground if you're at a cliffhanger chapter in your book.) Water games, a kids' club and entertainment nights run day and night in high season for more diverting times, and you'll probably want to potter back towards the bar area in between, to try the local dishes up for grabs at Buganvilla's restaurant.

Disliked: El restaurante es un poco lento para servir, café con leche tardo poco, el zumo. De. Naranja casi 10min hasta que lo. Entrego.
Otro día pedimos 2.refrescos y un bocata, (baicon queso) y nadie de los que estaban se puso hacerlo, tuvimos que esperar a que llegara el cocinero.

Liked: Very clean modern wash blocks. Short walk to great beaches with lovely bars/restaurants. Nice pool and onsite restaurant. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Disliked: A bit tight getting on to some pitches due to trees and if it’s busy. Good idea to pull up and walk around to have a look first to choose best and most accessible pitch. The trees are great for shade though.

Disliked: Very bumpy undulations in tarmac probably caused by tree roots but some bumps are very high
We & others bottomed out
WiFi- may as well not be there as doesn’t work very well at all but not a problem for us as we have a mifi

Liked: Nothing.

Disliked: Horrible roads, my car broke down because of the holes and bumps in the ground. Rude staff that didn't understand English. Would never go back even if I got paid. No wifi except from in the restaurant.

Local attractions

It's about 15 minutes' saunter to the nearest beach Playa Los Monteros, a wide expanse of sand just east of Marbella. The beach is lifeguarded and has free parking, watersports kit hire, and rental services for parasols, hammocks and sunbeds. From Los Monteros, it's 10 minutes ' drive to downtown Marbella. You'll want to get here as often as poss during your Costa del Sol hol: world-famed Marbella has a splendid harbour that's home to swish craft and yachts; around 27 kilometres of golden beaches in and around the resort; posh shopping galore and a goodly handful of museums. A drive of about 35 minutes in the other direction from Marbella will land you at Torremolinos, with yet more sandy beaches, loads of bars, nightclubs and restaurants, and big and bubbly Aqualand, the biggest waterpark on the Costa del Sol. Fably ancient Málaga, one of the oldest cities in the world, is about 50 minutes' drive from the site.
