The splendid views from Camping Alto de Viñuelas have been raved about aplenty by previous guests: in a landscaped wildlife haven shaded by fruit and olive trees, the site looks out over the spectacular Sierra Nevada mountains. It’s in a most handy spot for visiting Granada too, with a stop right outside served by a bus that takes a mere 25 minutes to reach the city. Friendly staff are on hand to book tickets on your behalf for the spectacular palace and fortress complex of Alhambra, and will also happily point out where in the city you need to catch the bus back to base. The park is simple but well set out, with an outdoor swimming pool and sun deck for catching some rays. When a wander off site for supplies takes your fancy, head down the hill toward the local town of Beas de Granada (five minutes’ drive), which has two small but well-stocked supermarkets from which to pick up bits and pieces to barbecue back at base, plus a friendly local bar that serves tapas shating plates and drinks. On Sunday afternoons, a van selling rotisserie chicken and fries is in the town square.

  • The outdoor swimming pool is open between 01/05 and 30/09 (subject to weather conditions).

  • Units longer than 8 metres are not allowed.
  • No charcoal barbecues allowed.

Liked: Friendly staff. Nice sized flat pitch with great views. Regular bus to and from Granada centre right outside the site. Very quiet and well maintained. Services are dated but clean

Disliked: Pool is small and very shallow over half the length. Toilets and showers are very dated and there were broken fittings on the shower walls meaning that you had to hold the shower with one hand whilst showering. Bar and restaurant are closed. We visited last year and they were closed then, looks like it's never opened since. No shop on site and it is a tough walk to the nearest alternative

Liked: A nice quiet site

Disliked: Lack of toilet paper, soap in toilets. Weren’t serviced often enough. Ground impossible to get pegs in. Staff not very friendly or helpful

Liked: Beautiful location with lovely views. Friendly and welcoming. Well organised. Bus to Granada

Disliked: Pitches were a bit tight. Large units struggled to park. Very few showers and toilets for the number of pitches (3 showers and toilets for each gender)

Liked: La pulizia, la cortesia e collaborazione, la dimensione delle piazzole, la posizione, con il bus per Granada subito fuori il camping

Disliked: La ghiaia delle piazzole contiene molta sabbia, per cui, inevitabilmente, un po’ te la porti dentro al camper

Liked: Amabilidad, Flexibilidad de horario de recibida, silencio de los huéspedes, instalaciones adecuadas, entorno inmejorable.

Disliked: Los perros del pueblo ladrando por la noche y que estuviera al lado de una carretera, porque de escuchaban coches pasar, o motos haciendo una carrera. Pero a partir de las 24:00 o 01:00 ya hubo silencio total.

Liked: Lovely position of the site. Very quiet

Disliked: No pool or bar/restaurant.
Toilets/showers are a bit tired and could use a refurb. Water pressure was a bit hit and miss

Liked: Good spot with a view on the snowed mountains. Clean showers and WC. Spacious pitches to park our motorhome and a nice area to clean, gray and black waters.
The staff helped us with our late arrival. Great communication.

Disliked: A bit far, one hour, with public transport from Granada and a bit more costly compared to the other camping areas we stayed during our week in Andalusia.

Local attractions

Walks and cycling routes are available directly from the site, such as the one between Beas and Granada, with some of the area’s most stunning views over the Sierra Nevada mountain range. The narrow ravines, steep cliffs, natural springs and deep dark caves of the Sierra de Huétor Natural Park are an easy 20-minute amble away too. If you’re handy on a bike – or fancy a three-hour hike – the park’s most renowned spring, Fuente Grande, is around 12 kilometres away, and is so famed as its waters were transported by the Moors to Granada’s Albaicín palace… which is also an excellent spot for a sightsee, and accessed via a 25-minute bus ride that picks guests up from right outside the site. If you’re planning on having a car on your holidays, a trip should most certainly be made to the Cueva del Agua, which can be reached in about 40 minutes.
