Want outdoorsy breaks rambling through the countryside? Hotel-cooked half-board meals and access to a thermal swimming pool? Naturist holidays in a safe and friendly environment? For a place where all of those bases are covered, touch down at Sončni gaj Camping in scenic eastern Slovenia.
A five-minute drive away from the small town of Veržej and half an hour's drive from the Hungarian, Croatian and Austrian borders, this site is well situated for transcontinental tours or border-hopping day trips around other countries.
There's a lot locally that may well tempt you to stay in Slovenia, though… while thoroughly peaceful, the Prlekija region is home to top tourist sights such as the Negova Castle (20 minutes' drive) and the Jeruzalem-Ljutomer wine road.
Don’t worry too much about the basics, as the site has well-maintained toilets and showers, which are separate for the naturist and traditional areas (please indicate when booking whether you wish to stay in the naturist or non-naturist area). These are particularly handy as it’s likely you’ll want a dip (or several) in the site’s thermal swimming pool, complete with a slippery waterslide.
As for other things to keep you entertained, the site also runs seasonal entertainment events, free wifi, a kids' club and bicycle hire. Freshen up your clothes using the laundry and drying room, ready for site-organised activities (according to availability) such as gymnastics, Nordic walking, dance, riding, swimming, badminton and pétanque.

Local attractions
The Šalamun beekeeping centre (five minutes' drive) might just hit a sweet spot… as the farm produces honey, honey wine and honey liqueur. Fill your suitcase with souvenirs and see how it’s all done with a tour around the farm.
If you have a taste for wine, you’ll want to visit Hlebec Milan (half an hour), a vineyard with wine tasting tours. And for a more intense wine tasting tour of your own, follow the Jeruzalem-Ljutomer wine road (20 minutes) into Ljutomer for vineyards, wineries and splendid cycling tours.
Learn what life was like years ago on the Razkrižje prehistoric settlement (15 minutes) and try out bread baking and using stone tools. For another trip into history, a visit to the Negova Castle (20 minutes) might also do the trick.
If you want to feel what life’s like in a small town, perhaps dally around Beltinci’s (10 minutes) small castle and church. Continue the leisurely life with a visit to the peaceful Babič Mill (10 minutes). This floating flour mill sits on the riverside and it's a great spot to learn more about the trade or get your hands on fresh flour, boiled millet and porridge.
