The bags are packed, the sandals are slipped on and you’re off to the Algarve coast. Before you set off for any silky beaches or seaside terraces, set up your base at Oasis Camp in Lagoa, which is rather dreamy indeed… The site has a natural swimming pond made of clear spring water and right on site, there’s a surf camp providing equipment rental and multi-day lessons. If surfing isn’t quite your thing, there are also fitness activities and yoga classes to get stuck into. Having Lagoa as your location is excellent too. With rows of whitewashed house, many from the 18th century, there’s plenty to do, whether it’s surfing, dining on typical Portuguese cuisine, visiting Castelo de São João do Arade or driving under 20 minutes to sandy beaches like Praia dos Caneiros and Marinha beach. Oasis Camp has 50,000 square metres of greenery, and as if that isn’t enough to help you relax already, there’s also the natural swimming pond, a pool table and a table tennis table. The site runs communal barbecue evenings, as well as excursions across the Algarve. There’s a chilled-out atmosphere, that’s for certain.

Liked: Nothing

Disliked: Everything. Stayed for 30 mins and got our money back. Getting charged €30 per night and they tried to put us on the tiniest pitch with big rocks around it. Told them no way and we will have our money back. Realised that Mikki's place to stay was close by, 16km, so guess where we went for €20 a night.

Liked: Not a lot

Disliked: Only stayed one night out of 3 booked. Tiny pitch - my side door opened straight onto the access road. Didn’t use facilities so can’t comment. Lots of old vans and makeshift encampments.
More expensive than Orbitur sites !

Liked: El personal amable, la zona de piscina y su buen ambiente.

Disliked: Que nos instalamos donde quisimos y algunas parcelas no estaban niveladas, sin toma de agua ni electricidad. Perdidos por el camping sin ayuda de nadie. Luego en recepción solo se habla en inglés y alemán, nada de español.
Además hubo un accidente de fuego Justo en la parcela de al lado y no acudió nadie.

Liked: Őszintén szólva nagyon szkeptikusak voltunk a kemping iránt, ahogy olvastuk a korábbi véleményeket, de az ár miatt ezt választottuk mert ez volt a legkedvezőbb számunkra. Azt kell hogy mondjam, hogy nagyon meglepődtünk mikor odaértünk mert minden nagyon jó volt, Az egész ott tartózkodásunk alatt. Mindennel meg voltunk elégedve, nagyon hangulatos hely. Különösen jó volt látni, hogy szeretettel bánnak az állatokkal!

Liked: lo staff molto simpatico e disponibile al momento dell'accoglienza, nel campeggio c'è un mood tranquillo e pacifico. Il bar davanti alla piscina naturale è molto carino e la sera si può bere qualcosa ascoltando musica e passando del tempo insieme. La posizione alta, nella notte, favorisce una visione limpida e meravigliosa delle stelle.
Nonostante i bagni fossero pochi e un pò piccoli, erano sempre puliti e le docce calde.
Sapevamo anche di alcune attività molto interessanti, ma non vi abbiamo preso parte.

Disliked: Purtroppo il suolo è composto da una terra molto fina sull'arancio/rosso che macchia scarpe, pantaloni e piedi.
Un pò scomodo per la posizione stando un pò distante da strade principali.
La piscina, essendo naturale, non risultava invitante per il bagno, lo staff ci ha garantito la sua pulizia, ma non ci siamo fatte il bagno.

Liked: Basically noting.

Disliked: Very dusty, electric connections are far for pitches, not good space for big campers. It was very bad experience. Only transport facility is Uber. It is not recommend.

Liked: Íbamos con mucho miedo por las malas críticas leídas. Estaba bien, la piscina, cierto es, que estaba turbia el agua pero es normal en las piscinas naturales y el bar estaba fenomenal. También tenía un jacuzzi muy agradable.

Local attractions

If surfing isn’t quite your cup of tea, it’s still possible to get the kids into the water without so much stepping foot on the beach. Slide & Splash (10 minutes’ drive) is a popular water park in Lagoa with slides rather than surfboards. Many of the Algarve’s most popular spots are, of course, within driving distance too. Will you start with Lagos (half an hour), where there’s a steep descent to Praia do Camilo, dramatic cliffs with a lighthouse, a castle and all the stunning terraces within the walled old town? Or instead, begin with Albufeira (25 minutes), which is just a tad quicker to get to? At this spot, join a diving trip (or a dolphin-watching trip if you don’t fancy going down under). Faro (45 minutes) is another stunning location, with plenty of stunning coastal scenery for cyclists to breathe in, as well as a cobbled old town, 13th-century cathedral and a museum in a convent.
