Pitch up in Portugal among trees, but be close to the sand, surf and sea of local beaches? Any sensible sort should want some of that, at any time. Parque Orbitur Vagueira is in a pretty prime Portuguese location, just two kilometres from the sandy beaches of Vagueira and Areão, a short walk to Ría de Costa Nova, a kilometre from Vagueira and within a 15-minute drive of Vagos, Aveiro and Ílhavo. It's set in a wood and has a big sports ground on which to tackle tennis, football or basketball, free wifi in public areas, outdoor bowling, table tennis and a restaurant.

Disliked: Dogs barking all night, must be a dog pound nearby. All. Night. Ear plugs were a god send. Shower head I used was broken and soaked the dressing area of cubicle

Liked: Nice, well sized pitches amongst pine trees. Wash blocks a little dated but clean and well maintained. Good showers. Excellent swimming pool. Good cycle ride into Aveiro.

Disliked: Main road nearby - just about ok but some pitches would have felt very close to it. Communal toilet paper dispenser outside each individual toilet cubical - this is the only campsite we have stayed at in Portugal, so maybe completely normal, but did make taking enough toilet paper into the cubical with you a bit nerve wracking!

Liked: La estancia estuvo fenomenal. Íbamos cinco familias y nos reservaron las parcelas juntas.
La piscina aunque no la usamos mucho, hacía fresco, estaba muy bien. El bar muy bien también, cenamos una noche unas pizzas y hamburguesas y cumplió sobradamente.
El trato por el personal del camping muy amable toda la estancia
Los baños del camping les limpiaban todos los días, así que bien.

Entretien des sanitaires fait très régulièrement.

Disliked: Camping bruilland en bord de route, meute de chiens pas loin du camping qui aboie le soir tard et le matin tôt.
Sanitaires vétuste
Animation de camping très limité.
Mauvaise gestion des emplacements ( réservation sur Internet pour 50 M2, a notre arrivée emplacement libre : 1er arrivé 1er servie)

Local attractions

As you'll see, Parque Orbitur Vagueira is in a pretty prime Portuguese location: have town or city days out in between days surfing or bodyboarding of Vagueira and Areão beaches, or just wander around the local countryside making it your mission to munch from as many Portuguese menus as poss. If you're an angler, go and learn more about your craft via the Xávega fishing technique of Islamic origins where a large net is thrown into the sea from small fishing boats and then dragged to shore by people or tractors; head to Sesimbra, the Meco area and the beach of Vagueira to see more. Also recommended in the region is the 17th-century Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Penha, patron saint of the nearby town of Grândola in the Setúbal District.

Booking terms and conditions

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Changes to your holiday

Modifications are subject to a €10.00 (£8.44) fee.

Dogs

A valid vaccination certificate must accompany your dog.
Dogs are not allowed if you are staying in the accommodation units.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
