A Limburg landscape of streams, meadows, hills and caverns awaits for guests at EuroParcs Gulperberg to explore… This well-appointed park on the edge of the village of Gulpen makes an excellent base for outings in this scenic area, whether you’re planning to hike, ride bikes or venture underground to see what lies below the surface (hint: there’s about 750 kilometres of underground tunnel and cave systems in Limburg…) Bike hire is available on site for easy jaunts into the countryside, and there are plenty of great walks nearby too, including strolls around traditional villages like Viljen, Epen and Mechelen. Not feeling up to it? Simply stick around on site, put your feet up and take in the scenery right there – the park is on the southern slope of the Gulperberg so it’s got excellent views from all corners. While you’re at the park, there are other ways to keep everyone busy too, most notably the outdoor pool, which has shallower areas and play equipment for the kids and landscaped sunbathing areas for the grownups. There’s also a good-sized playground (plus smaller ones scattered around the park) and a programme of games, crafts and other activities runs through the summer as well. Time to eat? Pick up bits at the site shop (including fresh baguettes every morning) or take a table on the restaurant terrace for something from the menu of local dishes – perhaps the ‘white gold’ asparagus when it’s in season, or a tasty slice of Limburg flan?

Liked: Lovely site good dog walks around and easy walk into gulpen . Lots of coffee shops . Good rural views from pitch . Washroom/showers good clean . Liked the fact bar/restaurant was open still in late September. Great meal had here

The restaurant on site is lovely inside and out.
The facilities are lovely and clean.
Lovely town a short walk away and even a bus station to go into Maastricht.

Liked: Good access to woodland walks with dog. Plenty of cafes / restaurants on walk routes for coffee or lunch. Beautiful rolling / hilly countryside with access to nearby villages and towns. We did not use our bikes, but comprehensive bike track network for road and mountain bike. However unless you are comfortable with some very steep climbs an e-bike would be essential.

Disliked: This is an excellent site if you have younger children who would like a daily children's program in Dutch. There were a lot of children from dawn to dusk. Even in the swimming pool up to its closing time of 22:00. So no real opportunity to use the pool.
The pitches are compact and close together so the site felt crowded and noisy. The facilities were ok with clearly a high volume of use so waiting was required on occaision.
The reception at the site had no record of us having a dog with us even although clearly shown on the booking confirmation as having been requested and paid for. The dog pitches on the site were all occupied so they had to accept we would be on a pitch where dogs were not officially allowed.

Liked: Amazing views. Great kids entertainment and activities team. The Professeur was especially brilliant! Lovely pool and food/drinks available.

Disliked: Restaurant and shop close a bit too early in the evening. There were only 2 washing machines on the site and not very cheap. WiFi could be faster.

Liked: The pitch was a decent size and the views were spectacular. The bar staff were friendly and helpful, because they got me some cold water from the shop when it was closed (especially when the outside temperature was nearly 30 degrees), however they still never told me the shop opening times - see dislikes.

Disliked: Having just come a music festival, the women’s toilets were in a worse state than at the festival. Facilities stated there was a shop, it took me until the last day to find out its opening times, even asking at reception never got me the answer, they just said in the morning. At 0845hrs, I went to the shop only to discover it was closed, however the bar door was open so I ventured inside. Initially, I was told and pointed to get out, however after politely asking what time does the shop open, the cleaner said 9 - this took me several attempts to find out this information (later I did also find a sign stating its opening times). Saying that, the opening times for the shop is only 1 hour a day - which in my eyes is pointless and when it does open there is a large queue to get served, again I ended up getting served faster at a music festival with approx 70,000 people than this shop.

Local attractions

Not sure where to start with exploring the local countryside? How about taking in the views from Vaalserberg (25 minutes’ drive), where the viewing tower looks out over three countries? You could also take in some of the scenery at a leisurely pace from the Miljoenenlijn steam trains (20 minutes). Or maybe you’d like to get underground? You can do that at Gemeentegrot (20 minutes), where you can ride a tram through art-filled tunnels, or over in Valkenburg (20 minutes), which has Roman catacombs and castle ruins to explore. Hoensbroek Castle is another good bet for a bit of history, as are the streets of Maastricht and Aachen (all about half an hour away). For more kid-friendly days out nearby, go over to meet the animals at GaiaZoo or explore the fascinating world of science at the Discovery Museum, Kerkrade – both are 20 minutes away by car. Alternatively, grab your towel and head to Mosaqua Subtropical Swimming Paradise, 10 minutes’ walk away.
