Bring your swimming togs, for Recreatiepark de Tien Heugten in the North Netherlands is a watery site. As might be divined from the name, this is a recreation park – and it's surrounded by a lake (with several beaches) for swimming and sunbathing, with more of the same available at the site pool with waterslide. The kids can build sandcastles or play games on the beach, or make friends at the pool, at the playgrounds or at the kids' club, while bigger sorts can soak up the feeling of being well relaxed... supping a drink or two at the bar, surfing the internet with the wifi available in the main building – or supping another fresh drink at the terrace...? And round and about? This lush place is in the Drenthe province, very niftily set with easy access to day trips in all directions as well as to the many local bike rides past rivers, fields and forests (some starting at the entrance to the site). The cities of Assen and Groningen are within easy reach for sightseeing, shopping and museum pottering, and the Drouwenerzand Attractiepark theme park is 10 kilometres away. The park also has a restaurant and a miniature golf course (guaranteed mirth for all), and a shop selling fresh bread and plenty of essentials. It's divided into several different fields, each with its own playground, and has a lively entertainment and activities programme in summer to keep all ages occupied. The essentials include a well-maintained amenities block with hot showers that's suitable for disabled guests; a large launderette with washers and dryers is also on site.

Liked: Leuke Animatie team voor de kids, elke dag wel wat te doen. Kids konden lekker hun eigen gang gaan. Winkels waren ook niet zo ver rijden.

Disliked: Eigen toiletpapier meenemen naar de toiletten. Weinig bereik op de camping, voor zowel bellen, als internet.

Liked: Der Campingplatz ist was für Leute die ihre Ruhe haben wollen oder mit Kindern die nicht ganz so viel Geld haben aber auch nur in den holländischen ferien.
Toilettenhäuser waren sauber

Disliked: Naja der campingplatz ist echt überholungsbedürftig. Kein Toilettenpapier oder seife durchwasser ist auch nicht so warm. Und noch dazu kommt das für Kinder nur was ist wenn die Ferien in holland beginnen aber eher was für Kinder bis 6 jahre sind dann abgereist. und es muss für alles extra gezahlt werden Wlan 5 Kilometer weiter ist ein besserer. ; ) und es muss für alles extra gezahlt werden

Liked: Het personeel wat zeer flexibel en vriendelijk met de mensen omgaat en het schone sanitair

Disliked: Het soms toch nog hardrijdende verkeer,zowel auto,s en vooral motoren,zelfs de golfkar van de camping zelf reed stevig over de camping.
De afvoer van het chemisch toilet was lek en liep het afval water over het pad.

Kaum Animation
Sanitäranlagen renovierungsbedürftig! Teils dreckig und stinkend. Duschen viel zu klein für Mamas mit kleinen Kindern
Bäume haben unfassbar viel dreck gemacht auf Wohnwagen und Vorzelt
Sandkasten komplett verlassen, nicht gereinigt und gepflegt

Liked: Unser .Urlaub als Camper haben wir hier verbracht.
Alle sind super freundlich und hilfsbereit. Es war etwas zu ruhig. Allerdings muss man dazu schreiben, dass wir nicht in der Hauptsaison da waren.
Das Essen im Restaurant ist ebenfalls sehr zu empfehlen. Wir kommen definitiv nächstes Jahr wieder.

Local attractions

The park's central setting makes it a cinch to get out and about around the Drenthe and further afield, whether your tastes tend towards museums, shopping, amusement parks or outdoor adventures on land or water. Recommended museums in the region include the open-air Ellert en Brammert Museum in nearby Schoonoord (10 minutes' drive), the National Prison Museum in Veenhuizen (30 minutes) and the Industrial Narrow Gauge Museum in the town of Erica, also within half an hour. If the kids say Pah to that, they can be mollified without too much faff as the Drouwenerzand Attractiepark theme park in Drouwen, 10 to 15 minutes away, and Wildlands adventure zoo and theme park is within 20. Lazy days around the area could include boating, swimming and fishing in the nearby lake… or you could have a day or two sightseeing in nearby Groningen or wildlife spotting among the protected reserve of the Dwingelderveld, Europe’s biggest expanse of wet moorland; both are 40 minutes away.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Dogs

Dogs are not allowed if you are staying in the accommodation units.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
Guide dogs are allowed on site free of charge.

Extras

A charge of €0.50 (£0.44) applies for the use of the shower.
Motorbike(s) can be brought instead of the car(s) included.

General

Discount cards and gift vouchers cannot be applied to bookings made via Pitchup.com.
In the event of a complaint, please speak to reception immediately. Complaints which are not brought to the management's attention during your stay cannot be dealt with once you have left the site.
Quiet hours must be respected between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m..
Radio, music and TV players must be kept at a low volume. Car doors and boots must be closed quietly.

Pitches

Pitches: a €5.00 (£4.36) deposit is required on arrival and will be refunded on departure when returning the gate badge/barrier pass/toilet keys.

Only park guests are authorised to use the pool.
The outdoor swimming pool is open between 01/07 and 01/09 (subject to weather conditions).

Reception

Reception is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. between 01/04 and 29/09.
