Family farm holidays come with an extra dose of comfort at Glamping Franse Peer, in the Overijssel countryside between Hasselt and Zwolle.
Accommodation here is in luxurious safari tents that sleep up to six people in three bedrooms. Each one also has its own bathroom (with a rain shower and toilet) along with a living area that's got sofas, comfy chairs, a wood-burning stove and a large dining table. Prepping meals to serve up on that table should be fairly simple, as the tents have well-equipped kitchens (with a cooker, microwave, fridge, kettle and dishwasher as well as all the crockery, pans and other bits you’ll need). Other handy bits and pieces include games and a barbecue (available to use on request).
With all this provided for you, it should be nice and easy to get settled in – leaving you free to start on your holiday leisure activities. And as you're staying on a farm, it’s only right to begin with some time meeting your neighbours: the friendly folk that run the place are usually happy to give you a tour where you'll see the sheep and cows and may get to pet lambs depending on the season.
After that, maybe you'd like to rent a bike on site to tour the local area, take walks through the IJsseldelta or Weerribben-Wieden National Park or explore the nearby Hanseatic cities of Hasselt, Zwolle and Kampen (all of which are within a half-hour drive). And if that’s all a bit too active? Simply stay put on site and read your book while chilling out in a hammock.

Local attractions
There are lots of great places to get out into natural surroundings here – two favourites are the IJsseldelta National Landscape, dotted with polders and sea dykes, and the Weerribben-Wieden National Park, with a variety of watery ecosystems (peatlands, reed beds and canals) that are home to wildlife including birds and otters. Both are a half-hour drive away, and walking, cycling and watersports (canoeing and paddleboarding) are great ways to explore.
City life is just as attractive, as the nearby Hanseatic cities have been well preserved for a great sense of heritage. Stroll along the canal paths in Hasselt (20 minutes’ drive), see the Sassenpoort and Nederlands Bakkerij Museum in Zwolle (half an hour) and get lost among the alleys and gates of Kampen (half an hour).
Family days out nearby might include Dino Land Zwolle (half an hour), which has both indoor and outdoor attractions, or a trip to Walibi Holland (50 minutes) for rides and shows for all ages. Big kids might also enjoy a trip through technology heritage at Bonami Computer Museum (35 minutes).
