- Quiet Gelderland motorhome pitches on a waterside farm
- A 15-minute drive from the centre of Apeldoorn or Deventer
- Dog-friendly pitches with access to electric, wifi and token showers
What a great Gelderland location this is – De Grote Leigraaf is a small, quiet farm site that feels thoroughly rural (your nearest neighbours are a herd of cows…) and yet is handily placed in the centre of the city triangle of Apeldoorn, Deventer and Zutphen. That means it’s a fine spot for peaceful countryside bike rides or city activities alike (or national park hikes, or animal park visits, or a trip to a historic palace…)
The waterfront location is also a large bonus for many visitors, whether you’d like to go fishing, have a scenic picnic or take your dog for a walk on a waterside path (dogs are very welcome on site, but they’ll need to be kept on a leash around the pitches).
Pitches here have been well set up for guests travelling in motorhomes – they’re all equipped with electricity and are spacious enough for large units. You’ll also have access to a wifi connection, a service area (with waste facilities and clean water supply) and a bathroom block with toilets, chemical toilet and showers (the latter payable by a token that can be bought on site).
For supplies, the small village of Klarenbeek (10 minutes away by bike) has a small supermarket, and there are plenty of other options a few kilometres away in the southern suburbs of Apeldoorn. Barbecues are permitted, so you may like to bring your grill along and stock up for an evening of alfresco cooking and dining.

Local attractions
The centre of Apeldoorn (15 minutes’ drive) is a fine place to visit, with little shops and cobbled alleyways to poke around in, the CODA Museum for those interested in contemporary art and a great market on a Saturday.
It’s the area around the city that offers up some of the region’s best attractions, though – from the monkey mayhem of Apenheul animal park (15 minutes) to the elegant surroundings of Paleis Het Loo (20 minutes) and the world’s second-largest Van Gogh art collection at the Kröller-Müller Museum (25 minutes). Julianatoren amusement park (20 minutes) is a popular spot for families, and there are walks galore for all ages in both Hoge Veluwe and Veluwezoom national parks (15 minutes).
Elsewhere nearby, you may like to visit Deventer (15 minutes) to see the toy displays at the Speelgoedmuseum, climb the tower of the Grote Kerk or snap pics of the Bolwerksmolen windmill, or set out to explore both medieval and modern on a bike or boat tour of Zutphen (20 minutes, a Hanseatic town on the banks of the IJssel.
