A quick flick through the pics of RCN Vakantiepark Zeewolde in East Netherlands will speedily show this is a firmly family-friendly place, with so much to do for kids you might have to wrestle them from the site at the end of your stay. For starters, this lakeside park has its own surf school where guests can learn the ropes among the nearby waves. There's a fab outdoor pool with a water play area, just for small sorts; another play area by the lake; a sandy central playground with climbing net, and stacks of space to stroll leisurely around. If you or yours aren't up for learning to surf, try windsurfing instead, or hire a canoe or pedalo to explore the lake at your leisure. The site has its own marina and beach park too, as well as a multisports field, tennis courts, ping pong tables – and bikes to hire to take out around the surrounding flat and safe paths. RCN Vakantiepark Zeewolde is also in prime position for Dutch family holidays, as it's a 20-minute drive from Europe's biggest marine mammal park, Dolfinarium, and within 45 minutes of both the Julianatoren amusement park and the Apenheul monkey park. And finally, food: a park as well-equipped as this will have its tipples and vittles well sorted too, so settle down at the brasserie and terrace with a view over the lake and harbour, or pick up picnic bits and pieces, groceries and freshly baked croissants at the site shop.

Liked: The goats and bunnys were cool. There are showers. The beach was nice. Nature is around.

Disliked: The showers smelled a bit. You had to walk a bit to the next supermarket. Hard to navigate without a car. Weird outlets.

Liked: Absolutely loved our stay. Really child friendly site, so much for the kids to do. Lovely staff, huge playground, jumping pillow was great.
facilities were all really clean.
Free wifi worked perfectly.

Disliked: Our pitch was 95% mud and sand which was awful with young children.

The kids pool was SO cold.

Liked: What a fabulous campsite. Lots of facilities to entertain the adults and children and friendly helpful staff. Pitch was spacious and a good mixture of shade and sunshine. Toilet block was spotlessly clean and I never had to wait for a shower or toilet cubicle. Lots of hot water to wash in whatever time you went.

Disliked: My only small dislike were on two occasions I witnessed a very small handful of teenages on small engine mopeds whizzing up and down the fields in the dark which I thought was dangerous.

Liked: We camp quite a lot in the Uk and Europe, RCN Zeewolde is by far the best camping experience we as a family had this year.
•The staff is friendly and helpful.
•The other campers are the friendliest you’ll meet.
•The campsite is clean and the facilities are top class.
•Good play areas and activities for kids and adults.
• Safe for kids to be on own.

Disliked: We have nothing we did not like.
Only wished we could stay longer.

Liked: The on- site facilities.
The size and location of the tent pitch with electric hook up.
The cleanliness and accessibility of the toilets and showers.
The location - great for exploring places and Amsterdam on the doorstep.
The on-site shop- very good.
The easy access to a beach and lake including hiring equipment like stand up paddle boards.
The size of the site. The kids loved meeting people from other countries and soon formed friendships.

Liked: Toller Platz mit sauberer Anlage, jeden Morgen wird das sanitärhaus gründlich gereinigt und zwischen durch auch am Tag. Nirgends liegt Müll rum. Für die Kinder gibt es ein großen Spielplatz mit vielen Sachen und im ganzen Park verteilt kleine Spielplätze

Local attractions

The big attraction of this part of East Netherlands is the Dolfinarium, the biggest marine mammal park in Europe. Based in Harderwijk, this vast space houses dolphins, porpoises, sharks, sea lions, seals and many more mammal and watery species such as lobsters and sea anemones. It also has several restaurants and playgrounds as well as a beach on Wolderwijd lake. If the kids are now theme park obsessed, take them along too to Julianatoren (40 minutes' drive), an amusement park in Apeldoom next to Het Loo Palace. There's also the Apenheul monkey park (45 minutes), the first such place in the world where primates were allowed to wander freely among visitors. A bit further, the Royal Burgers' Zoo at Arnhem (50 minutes) is home to over 500 species from around the world in eight areas including rainforest, swamp and safari. After you've done the kid-friendly days, have some grownup fare with a visit to one of the most visited museums in the Netherlands, Het Loo Palace (45 minutes), among the top 100 Dutch heritage sites. Or drive 55 minutes to get to the Netherlands Open Air Museum, also near Arnhem: the kids might even like this one too.

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Dogs

Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.

Extras

Motorbike(s) can be brought instead of the car(s) included.

General

Bookings are nominative and non-transferable.
Discount cards and gift vouchers cannot be applied to bookings made via Pitchup.com.
In the event of a complaint, please speak to reception immediately. Complaints which are not brought to the management's attention during your stay cannot be dealt with once you have left the site.
Quiet hours must be respected between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m..
Radio, music and TV players must be kept at a low volume. Car doors and boots must be closed quietly.
The grocery shop is open between 26/03 and 31/10.
The management reserves the right to deny access or terminate the stay of those guests whose behaviour is deemed unsuitable. No refunds will be offered.
