Wending your way to the Wiltz area for fresh-air frolics? Head to Heiderscheid’s Camping Fuussekaul for a rural site just a couple of minutes’ drive from townie amenities.
You can be sure of finding heaps of outdoorsy outings around here – walking and bike paths run through the woods and open spaces of the surrounding Upper-Sûre Natural Park, and the Upper-Sûre Lake is 10 minutes’ drive away for freshwater swims, watersports and lakeside trails.
There’s plenty of activity to be had on site too: facilities include trampolines, a miniature golf course, pétanque court and all the kit and space you need for games of football, badminton and beach volleyball. If you need to cool off after all sampling the whole spread, there’s a swimming pool and paddling pool on site too.
Ever-energetic tiddlers can let off further steam at the adventure park, the indoor play area or one of several smaller playgrounds scattered around close to the pitches (mighty handy for parents multitasking keeping an eye out supervising the small sorts plus putting feet up).
Come along in the summer months and there’s also a busy programme of activities laid on for the kids, which means that grownups can spend a bit of free time at the gym, having a massage, relaxing in the sauna or getting their mop tended to at the hairdresser (or simply having a snooze of course – if you can’t on hols, when can you?)
Other facilities on site include a restaurant, bar, snack bar and supermarket with a daily supply of freshly baked bread.

There sure is a fab range of watersports activity to be had for those making the 10-minute drive to Upper-Sûre Lake: launch into the shallows for a swim or down into the deep for a scuba dive, or stick to the surface for days of sailing, canoeing or windsurfing.
There’s a cracking collection of castles to wander around nearby, too – if you’re feeling a little weary after visits to Esch-sur-Sûre Castle and Bourscheid Castle (both 10 minutes’ drive), it’s possible you’ll perk up on learning that Wiltz Castle (20 minutes) also houses a brewing museum.
Recent history gets documented at Wiltz Castle’s Battle of the Bulge exhibit; chart a course further back into days of yore at the MNHM National Museum of Military History (25 minutes) and Robbesscheier open-air museum (35 minutes). Don a hard hat and venture beneath ground at Stolzembourg Copper Mine (half an hour) for insights into the hard graft of historic miners (and quite possibly to feel grateful for your current career).
