Located betwixt the sea, mountains and centuries-old forest at Torre del Lago Puccini, a seaside hamlet near Viareggio in Tuscany, Club del Sole Viareggio Family Collection is a family-friendly base for anyone looking for a back-to-nature vibe but with lots going on around them on site. This family-friendly spot is tucked away in the Migliarino San Rossore Natural Park, bordering a centuries-old pine forest, through which a sandy path leads to Lecciona beach – no more than five minutes’ walk away. And what makes this such a special spot for family holidays? For starters, there are loads of activities planned every day at the kids’ club, with watersports on the sandy beach and games in the children’s swimming pool (one of three on site), where they can swim in total supervised safety. Around the holiday village, there’s a play area and tennis courts, and bike hire can be arranged too. You won’t need to bother too much about self-catering here either, as it’s all taken care of – although a handy camp shop does sell basics. Start the day with a delicious breakfast of fresh pastries and cappuccino, while later in the day you can all get together over a feast of local seafood on the outdoor dining terrace. That way everybody gets the chance to relax, not just the kids – and you can round off the day with live entertainment as well.

Liked Schöner Campingplatz, alles prima, Warmwasser, Seife und WC Papier vorhanden.

Disliked Zufahrt mit Wohnwagen, 7,5 Meter, kaum möglich.
Weg zum Strand ca 2,5 km durch einen Wald = Müll soweit das Auge reicht, dreckig und stinkig.
Strand = feiner Sand, Liege an Liege, naja.

Liked Die Damen an der Rezeption waren sehr hilfsbereit
Der Weg mit dem Rad zum Strand oder zum Hafen und der schönen Promenade ist sehr gut zu fahren

Disliked Der Platz war sandig und löchrig
Die Toiletten und Duschen ungepflegt und in schlechtem Zustand
Der Pool war geschlossen, weil es nachts geregnet hatte , wurde aber auf Nachfrage dann doch gröffnet
Die Kinderanimation bis nachts um 24h war die Hölle

Liked The pitch was very big, and the ground was smooth for a tent to put up.
It was 25 minutes car ride from Pisa and 35 minutes car ride from Lucca.

Disliked It was far from the sea. I think it was 2 km away from the sea, abiut 25 to 30 minutes walk. Saying that they had a free ride service to the beach. The toilets were very dirty. I stayed for 3 days, and only on the last day did I see someone cleaning. The shower rooms were very dirty. Some of the shelves in the shower rooms were broken, so it was difficult to put your shampoo somewhere while you were showering.

Liked Sehr nettes und hilfsbereites Personal. Die Stellplätze sind riesig groß. Man kann sich prima ausbreiten.

Disliked Die sanitären Anlagen sind zum Teil katastrophal. Viele defekte Amaturen und Ablagen verstopfte Abläufe, undefinierbare Dreck an den Wänden der Toiletten über mehrere Tage.

Disliked 30min bis 45min Fußweg zum freien Strand (noch nicht der hauseigene Strand)

Da der Campingplatz günstig ist, muss vieles separat bezahlt werden z.B. Liegen am Pool

Local attractions

Viareggio (10 minutes’ drive) rewards a visit for its seafront backed by art nouveau houses – take a look at the gorgeous facades and head to Gran Caffè Margherita for a cocktail amid its lovely 1920s styling. Forte dei Marmi (25 minutes) is another delightful seaside resort, with indie shops to nose around, plus beach clubs where you can eat seafood and laze on loungers with the kids. There’s more architectural beauty to discover in Pisa (25 minutes) too, where you’ll no doubt take a selfie at the famous Leaning Tower (yes, it really does lean that far). You can retrace the footsteps of pilgrims on the ancient Via Francigena (40 minutes) walking route, and at the medieval hilltop village of Montèggiori (20 minutes), break for lunch in a cosy trattoria with spectacular views over the region. And if the kids are behaving well on their Tuscan break, treat them to a day on the themed rides at the Pinocchio Park in Collodi (45 minutes), where there are also puppet-theatre shows and mazes to get lost in.
