If part of the plan for your Tuscany break is a stay that mixes up comfortable accommodation with countryside quiet, take a look at Glamping Pian Delle Ginestre. This small-scale glamping site is in the hinterland of the Etruscan coast about 10 minutes' drive from Sassetta, and its serene location in a centuries-old forest is given an extra peaceful edge by the fact that this is an adults-only site.
This is a splendid spot for a relaxing break in rural Tuscany, with numerous walking paths accessible directly from the site (including some running up to Poggio Neri Forest Park) and the healing waters of Terme della Cerreta a couple of minutes' stroll away. Wellbeing is a key concept here, with the team often organising things like yoga sessions or forest bathing events.
In fact, everything here is set up to give guests the best chance of a real chillout – you’ll be able to use the outdoor swimming pool and hot tub, and eat dinner in the small restaurant, where home cooking, local produce and organic ingredients are all part of the ethos. You’ll need to make reservations for dinner – but breakfast is already included, so you can start the day with a tasty buffet of homemade bits.
You’ll be staying in a sturdy safari tent built on a wooden deck and with clear windows that let you wake up to lovely views of the sky and trees. Each one is self contained with an ensuite bathroom and handy touches including a minibar, a kettle, a hairdryer and a safe. Outside, you’ll be able to choose from relaxing on the sun loungers or sitting out on your deck (perhaps with a glass of something from one of the local wineries?)

Local attractions
A tour of the area might take you to little villages like Castagneto Carducci (20 minutes' drive), Suvereto (20 minutes) and Bolgheri (35 minutes), all of which make lovely places for a wander through historic streets and a coffee or meal in a local café or restaurant.
A walk along some of the 37 kilometres of trail at Poggio Neri Forest Park (half an hour's walk) may well be on the cards too – and along with a few stops at some of the renowned wineries dotted around this part of the world. If you fancy a breath of sea air, head over to the Gulf of Baratti (40 minutes’ drive) for walks, archaeological visits or time on the beach.
For a full day out you may like to include some of Tuscany's top sights – the likes of Massa Marittima (40 minutes), Volterra (an hour) and Siena (an hour and a half) are all doable as day trips.
