You may think that a campsite by the beach is something of a dream location… but why not go one better with a campsite that has its own private beach? That’s exactly what you’ll get at Camping Sanfilippo, on the outskirts of Cefalù on Sicily’s north coast. Yes indeed – this site has direct access to its very own stretch of beach, which has a mix of fine sandy areas and craggy rocks to climb on – and it’s all free for site guests to use. It’s all very handy for families who’d like to hang out at the beach, as you can easily mix up seaside time with hours spent at the play area or the multisports area (for five-a-side football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis or table football) – and all without the need to travel from the site. Of course, it is a wise option to leave the site from time to time, as this is a fabulous part of the world to explore, especially if you like beaches. There are several lovely sandy areas to visit nearby, and that’s all made nice and easy by the campsite’s partnerships with local agencies that hire out bikes, scooters and quads. If you’d like to venture a bit further, have a chat to the people at reception who can hook you up with organised excursions to the Aeolian Islands or other destinations in Sicily. Another handy feature of this site is the hourly shuttle bus that runs to Cefalù for city centre strolls and shopping. If you don’t fancy the journey, pick up supplies at the site’s mini market or grab a table at the bar to have cool drinks brought to you.

Liked: Zona molto bella e ben collegata. Bel campeggio, ordinato e pulito. Molte aree comuni e ben attrezzato . Spiaggia privata molto carina . A due passi dalla bellissima Cefalù e una 50ina di minuti da Palermo

Disliked: Nonostante le piazzole per camper siano ottime, per chi dorme solo in tenda rischia di finire letteralmente attaccato alla tenda di qualcun altro. Pur avendo prenotato due piazzole per due tende, alla fine eravamo ammassati con tanti altri senza possibilità di allestire una piccola area con sedie o tavoli antistanti alle tende. Risultato; invece di due piazzole, eravamo due tende nell equivalente di una mezza piazzola

Ho trascorso un soggiorno meraviglioso al Campeggio San Filippo, immerso nel verde e nella bellezza della natura siciliana. La location è davvero incantevole, con un'atmosfera che invita al relax e alla tranquillità.

Il campeggio offre un market e un bar centrale molto accessibili, dove è possibile trovare tutto il necessario per una vacanza confortevole. I bagni sono nuovi e ben mantenuti, con docce calde a soli 90 centesimi, sempre funzionanti e pulite, il che rende l'esperienza ancora più piacevole.

La posizione è ideale, con il mare a pochi passi. L'acqua è cristallina e la spiaggia è ben curata, anche se va segnalato che ci sono alcuni grossi sassi che possono rendere difficile la camminata, specialmente per le persone anziane. Tuttavia, il panorama e la bellezza del luogo ripagano ampiamente qualsiasi piccolo inconveniente.

Un altro punto a favore del campeggio è il personale: cordiale e disponibile, sempre pronto ad aiutare e fornire informazioni utili per rendere il soggiorno ancora più piacevole.

Unico piccolo appunto riguarda la presenza di alcuni insetti, simili a cimici o pulci, che ho notato nei pressi della mia tenda. Sebbene non abbiano influito sulla qualità della mia esperienza, sarebbe utile prestare attenzione a questo aspetto per migliorare ulteriormente il soggiorno degli ospiti.

In conclusione, consiglio vivamente il Campeggio San Filippo a chi cerca un'esperienza immersa nella natura, con tutti i comfort necessari per una vacanza rilassante. Tornerò sicuramente!

Liked: This was our favourite campsite in our two week tour of the island. Flat spacious pitches for our tents. Quiet and peaceful site. Glorious views of the sea. Spotlessly clean toilet and shower facilities. Well stocked little shop and bar.
The bus service into Cefalu was excellent. This meant that it was easy to use the trains too.

Local attractions

Cefalù (10 minutes’ drive) is well worth some of your time – the resort town has a maze of medieval streets to stroll through, plus a Romanesque cathedral and an interesting ancient washhouse that’s been turned into an art gallery. Energetic types can also climb La Rocca, but there’s also the option of more beach time if you’d rather relax. A little way south (15 minutes’ drive) is Parco delle Madonie, a 35,000-hectare nature reserve that’s got some great hikes and bike rides plus cute villages like Castelbuono (half an hour), Isnello (35 minutes) and Castellana Sicula (50 minutes), all of which are good for a wander and a meal. For a full day out, take yourselves over to Palermo (50 minutes) to visit the Palatine Chapel, the cathedral and the catacombs, and to pick up tasty street food at the various markets.
