Camping Fico D'India is a scenic site on the spectacular peninsula of Isola di Capo Rizzuto in the Crotone province of Calabria. And that’s not even the best bit: it’s also within walking distance – less than 10 minutes – from gloriously golden Curmo beach. This site is set in a thick Mediterranean forest to provide plenty of shade; guests can take a walk through the woodland to reach the sandy shoreline, which has watersports and entertainment as well as lifeguards to watch over you as you take on the waves. Back on base, facilities of an entertaining nature include a play area, football field, table football and table tennis. Also on hand are useful amenities like a mini market for stocking up on handy holiday essentials, along with free wifi to help you keep in touch with friends and family back home. Then there's the bar: your go-to spot for a tipple after days sunning yourself on the sand. Fico D'India is family centred and also welcomes couples and groups of friends. Evening entertainment and a kids’ club run in the summertime, while barbecues and fires are encouraged for cooking and keeping warm as the dark draws in. If you’re on a lazy holiday, a handful of restaurants await for leisurely lunches and dinners in Le Cannella, the nearest village at a five-minute walk away. More spots for trying the fine fare of this foodie nation can be found north in Isola di Capo Rizzuto town, about a 10-minute drive from the site.

Liked: We booked this as a last minute getaway, we used to camp a lot but this was our first time in Italy. Lovely setting amongst the trees. Camp overall clean and tidy. Toilets and showers clean, hot water (not lukewarm) in the showers. Able to take our dog. No limit on pitch size (within reason). We ate in the restaurant on our last night, the food was plentiful, true Calabrian quality and the price good. The location is ideal if you just want a quiet relaxing getaway but equally good as a base for exploring. Gorgeous sandy beaches within easy stroll. The family are welcoming, helpful and always ready with a smile and a greeting. We will definitely stay again.

Liked: Friendly reception by Stefano, always with a smile. Everyone very helpful. It was quiet in early June, being out of season but I found it very relaxing and had everything I needed. There’s a nice beach nearby, a bit of a climb down and back up so best to spend some time there with a picnic.

Local attractions

For coastal wilderness and wildlife – think barracudas, starfish and seagrass forests – Capo Rizzuto Marine Protected Area is a 15-minute drive from Camping Fico D'India. Cultural type? You'll be pleased to know the park is a 20-minute drive from Capo Colonna’s archaeological museum and the Temple of Julius, an ancient Greek site set against the backdrop of the Med. The port city of Crotone, with its ninth-century Castello di Carlo V, can be reached in 30 minutes. Factor in some time for wanders along the waterfront – it’s got a downright gorgeous setting and is just the place for sitting and whiling away a couple of hours with a cappuccino. The hilltop medieval hamlet of Santa Severina is 55 minutes away. Once you’ve had your fill of hiking here, or along the paths lining Italy’s southern coast, the lake-studded landscapes of Sila National Park are an hour’s drive away to the north.

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

If the reception is closed on arrival, please check in at the Bar.
Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Please pick any available pitch on arrival.

Dogs

A valid vaccination certificate must accompany your dog.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
Guide dogs are allowed on site free of charge.

Extras

Entertainment passes are included in the rate.

General

Entertainment and activities are available between 19/07 and 31/08.
In the event of a complaint, please speak to reception immediately. Complaints which are not brought to the management's attention during your stay cannot be dealt with once you have left the site.
Quiet (afternoon) hours must be respected between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m..
Quiet hours must be respected between 12 a.m. and 7 a.m..
Refunds within the indicated cancellation period are only possible if the site is able to relet your unit/pitch.

Units should not be left unoccupied unless previously agreed with the management. Please speak to reception when the need arises, a fee may be charged for unsupervised units.
You must follow the management directives when pitching your tent/unit and related equipment.

No vehicle movement between 11:30 p.m. and 7 a.m..
Only one car is to be parked by the pitch. Extra vehicles must be parked in the designated area.
The car is only included in the rate if you are travelling with a touring caravan or a tent. If you wish to bring a car along with your motorhome/campervan please select the extra.
The charging of electric vehicles is not permitted on site.

Visitors

Visitors must leave the premises by 7 p.m..
Visitors must register at reception and pay their fee.
