  • Peaceful family camping five minutes’ drive from Bad Lausick in Saxony
  • Reef waterpark 10 minutes’ drive and Gnandstein Castle 25 minutes
  • Free fruit in the orchard; playground, tractor rides and bike hire
Book the family in for a peaceful getaway at Campingplatz Landidyll, right on the outskirts of Bad Lausick (five minutes’ drive), a pretty Saxony spa town between Chemnitz and Leipzig. Very much a family concern, this small and leafy campsite started life in 1991. It’s surrounded by meadows and sits in the middle of an orchard; in summer months, you can pick your fill of free fruit including cherries, apples, pears, red and white currants, gooseberries and blackberries; hazelnuts and walnuts are also available in season. Kids have free run of the extensive lawns, the climbing frames in the huge sandpit and kites to fly. The whole family can get together for a dip in the natural lake 10 minutes’ walk away, cook alfresco at the barbecue area (firewood can be bought on site) and rent bikes to explore Saxony by pedal power. There’s a small kiosk for snacks, and a daily bread delivery service – you’ll need to order the latter the evening before. Anything else you need can be sourced in the shops and supermarkets of Bad Lausick, where you can also make your choice of restaurants and takeaways.

Electric optional grass motorhome pitch

Electric optional grass motorhome pitch

Electric optional grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: A friendly greeting was the beginning of a lovely stay. The camp and facilities could not be cleaner, nor could the site have more character.
There are toilet rolls on offer which is most important for some campers ;)
Paper towels and soap dispensers at wash basins.
Shower is 50c and the entire shower block is heated for your comfort.
Pitches are well kept and serviced, nice and level too.
Great phone reception for streaming.
Small shop at reception offering a selection of drinks.
Okay area for children, sand based so nice and safe.
The owners are very friendly as is the history of their family and the campsite ownership.
I spent a single night and felt totally relaxed and rested, very peaceful site which is away from busy roads.
Open all year round.
Thanks for a brilliant stay.

Disliked: Nothing to report.

Local attractions

There are numerous adventures to be had all around Campingplatz Landidyll; explore the Colditz Forest hiking area on foot, on horseback or by bike; if you’re serious about your cycling, try the scenic Altenburg-Colditz-Radroute and end up at Colditz Castle (an hour by bike) to check out the displays from its days as a World War II POW camp. To learn more about Saxony’s heritage, take a tour of the grand apartments and chapels in 13th-century Gnandstein Castle (25 minutes’ drive), or the mighty Schloss Altenburg (35 minutes) complex, home to an ornate church and a decorative-arts collection. After all that culture, it’s time to treat the kids; options include an afternoon’s commune with owls, donkeys and reptiles at Inselzoo Altenburg (35 minutes), sitting on a tiny island in the middle of Grosser Teich lake. Staying closer to home base, you can all relax together in the saunas and spa pools at Reef waterpark (10 minutes).
