If you’re on the lookout for an active getaway, you certainly won’t need to look much further than Domaine L’Écrin du Lac, a family-friendly site 10 minutes’ drive from the village of Chorges in the Hautes-Alpes department of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. Near the artificial Lac de Serre-Ponçon, the site is in a prime spot for watersports (take to the water for paddleboarding, kayaking and windsurfing), beach days and hiking, biking, skiing and riding, and there are lake-based waterparks to try out within half an hour. For those who prefer their activities to be more mountainy, scale the (very short) distance to Écrins National Park, 10 minutes away, for rivers to canoe along, 1000 kilometres of trails to explore and plenty of high-octane, high-adrenaline afternoons bungee jumping, paragliding and whitewater rafting. Or you can keep things sedate on leisurely hikes with eyes peeled for chamois, ibex, marmots and grouse. Rest your weary self back on site with dips in the seasonal outdoor pool, a day’s lounging under the sun or a relaxing game of pétanque, then settle in for an evening at the bar (open in July and August) which has a terrace with lake views. There's a play area on site and the site also has a private lakeside beach. A kids' club operates on site between Monday and Friday in the summer. On site, there's also table tennis and a billiards table. You’re mostly on your own for food (there’s a bakery service during the high season), but that’s not a problem around here: head into Chorges (10 minutes' drive) for snacky supplies or try out nearby restaurants for more substantial local cuisine.

Liked La vue époustouflante sur le lac et les montagnes ,le point très positif .
La piscine de 25m , bien aménagée et chauffée

Disliked Chalets un peu datés, nous avions un chalet pour 4 et nous étions 2 ,on le voit à la taille des chambres, on peut à peine faire le tour du lit qui ne fait que 140 cm.
La terrasse pour 4 ,un parasol non adapté, trop petit et fixé sur le grillage .Il faudrait un coin avec voile d’ombragé.
Nous sommes arrivés un mercredi, jour de fermeture de la réception, et rien de prévu pour nous, car notre dossier était inconnu ,il a fallu appeler le numéro d’urgence pour avoir quelqu’un et enfin résoudre cette énigme.
Pas de restaurant, ni de bar en juin ,pas de pain le matin....

Local attractions

The site is so close to the Alps of the Écrins National Park, it should come as no surprise that this is a particularly scenic part of France. With that in mind, start your hols off the right way with an aerial tour – head to the aerodrome in Tallard (about half an hour away) for hot air balloon rides, skydiving trips and chartering gliders, or nab a helicopter tour closer to home base. Once you’re well acquainted with the Hautes-Alpes from the air, it’s time to explore down on terra firma. Head into Chorges first to wander the medieval ramparts and Roman road, then widen the area of travel to Gap, the highest department capital in France. In Gap, make your way to the 19th-century cathedral to see the spectacular organ, poke around the archaeology and art history museum, and bring your camera to Place Jean Marcellin to take some snaps. Those with a taste for history can continue their wanderings with stops at Domaine de Charance (the former summer residence of the bishops of Gap, now home to the National Alpine Botanical Conservancy) and the 12th-century Boscodon Abbey, while anyone seeking lighter, less educational fare should point their feet towards Parc Animalier Serre-Ponçon zoo or try out paintball and karting in Rochebrune.
