Quiet Alpes-Maritimes family campsite by the Vésubie river
On the edge of Mercantour National Park near Roquebillière
Play area, trampoline and pétanque on site, plus ice cream sales

Make your way along a winding mountain road from the pretty pink-stone village of Roquebillière and in five minutes or so you’ll get to the scenic site of Camping Les Templiers, where partially shaded grass pitches sit next to the banks of the Vésubie river. This Alpes-Maritimes site has a backdrop of forested peaks, which may well entice you out for a hike, a bike ride or a climb in the local area – various providers in the area can sort you out with days of canyoning and climbing (including via ferrata routes), and there are lots of trails to follow in the nearby Mercantour National Park, the edge of which is about 10 minutes’ drive away. For a break from meandering through mountain peaks, there’s plenty to occupy you back at the campsite, including a trampoline and play area for younger kids and table football and ping-pong for older offspring. There’s space for games of football too, or you can try a bit of gentle competition at the pétanque court. Having Roquebillière so close by means that sourcing meals should be easy here – you can walk into the village centre in about 15 minutes to try out one of its bars or bistros, or pick up supplies. There’s also a small shop on site selling local produce along with those holiday essentials of soft drinks and ice creams. Breakfast and daily pastries can also be ordered for delivery the following morning.

Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch (backpacker, motorcyclist, no cars)

Liked: A good campsite with basic amenities like shower, toilet and a place to charge your phone. There was free wifi by reception and the staff are super friendly too.

Disliked: We had to use the stones to put our tent up as the ground was too hard to use pegs.

Liked: Clean, quiet and well run site.
Pitches were good size.

Disliked: Access is tricky but expected given location. Found a short cut to the town centre in the end but if this was shown when checking in it would help.

Lovely couple who own this and very friendly
Would recommend and would come back
We originally booked for 2 nights but changed to 3 nights
Short walk into town - 2 main restaurants in town plus butchers, 2 bakers and a supermarket and if you fancy getting your hair cut - a hairdressers

Liked: Gentillesse du personnel, camping à côté du cours d'eau donc jolie cadre avec ruissellement de l'eau pour dormir, localisation intéressante notamment pour les différents cols adjacents
-En contre-bas des axes routiers donc très calme

Disliked: - Gestion approximative : on me donne un emplacement qui est déjà prit (à 2 reprises) or j'avais besoin de l'électricité
- Horaire annoncé via Pitchup : 20h alors que l'horaire réel est jusque 19h
-Le wifi annoncé "sur tout le camping" ne donnait pas sur mon emplacement
-Moustique très très présent lié au cours d'eau

Nous vous remercions pour votre avis et nous excusons pour la gène occasionnée lié à votre emplacement. Malheureusement, même si cela reste extrêmement rare, certains campeurs font preuve de peu de civisme et choisissent un autre emplacement que celui initialement attribué sans nous prévenir, ce qui nous dérange tout autant que vous.
L'horaire de la réception indiqué sur pitchup est cependant tout à fait correct. Nous fermons à 20h en juillet et août et 19h le reste de la saison.

Local attractions

There’s lots of gorgeous scenery to explore in the Mercantour National Park, and you should be able to explore it easily enough from here, with the park’s boundary about 10 minutes’ drive away. The Cascade du Ray waterfall (20 minutes’ drive) is a good place to start nearby, perhaps followed by a hike around La Gordolasque (half an hour). If you’d like to try out some different activities while you’re in the area, you should have plenty of choice – for starters there’s canyoning (five minutes), climbing at Via Ferrata Lantosque (10 minutes) and horse riding (15 minutes). Vesúbia Mountain Park (15 minutes) is another good spot for activities, with a swimming pool, climbing wall and multi-activity days available for kids in the school holidays. And how about seeing some rare wildlife in its natural habitat? At Alpha Animal Park (half an hour) you’ll hide away in special shelters designed to help guests spot wolves as they roam through the woods.

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Changes to your holiday

Changes cannot be made once you have booked.

Dogs

A valid vaccination certificate must accompany your dog.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
Guide dogs are allowed on site free of charge.
