This is one for wine and cognac lovers, for Domaine des Vignères is located at an Haute-Saintonge vineyard in the Charente-Maritime. Site owner Florence is happy to show you around the vines and will advise on local produce and gastronomy as well as buying cognac. All accommodation has garden or vineyard views and is fitted with air conditioning to keep everyone cool in summer. Bed linen is provided, along with wifi (so there won’t be any grumbles from the teens about being bored) and TV for lazy evenings. For some serious pampering moments, hop into the hot tub for a relaxing soak under the stars. No need to worry about cooking either, as Florence can provide appetiser baskets packed with goodies like Pineau des Charentes aperitif, artisan beers and regional snacks or pizzas (book 24 hours in advance). If you’re going self-catering all the way, you’ll find pretty much everything you need in the supermarkets and bakeries of Jonzac (10 minutes’ drive). For an extra charge, book the wooden, Finnish-style Kota Grill for communal barbecue or fondue evenings.

Local attractions

Leave the car behind and explore locally: have a look around the whitewashed church in Saint-Maurice-de-Tavernole (10 minutes’ walk), remarkable for the pastel frescoes adorning its simple interior, and take a walk in Le Coteau aux Orchidées nature reserve (20 minutes) dedicated to rare orchids, best seen in spring. Further afield, spoil yourself with a spa treatment at Les Antilles de Jonzac (10 minutes’ drive), or swim laps and ride waterslides with your kids at the complex’s indoor or outdoor pools. Take a hot-air balloon flight from Aérodrome Jonzac-Neulles (five minutes’ drive) to see the Gironde River estuary and the cognac vineyards of the Charente from above. For a closer acquaintance with the region’s fine produce, taste the local Pineau des Charentes aperitif as well as cognac at Château de Beaulon (half an hour), or try the fine red and white wines at Château de Plassac (20 minutes).

Liked: The situation of the site; rural ,calm,truly in the midst of nature but easy access(7km to food provisions and restaurants.

Liked: Not good. Hidden extras and not informed before. Would not recommend in anyway.

Disliked: As above. Not worth the money. Wi-Fi did not work in the property. Spa children under the age of 8 not allowed even with parental supervision. 20 euros an hour to use.

Nous sommes désolés que votre séjour ne vous ai pas plu. .
Pour répondre à toutes vos remarques : La Wifi fonctionne sur la propriété, il suffisait de venir nous voir, pour résoudre ce soucis.
La législation française interdit l'accès au spa au moins de 8 ans contrairement à une piscine. Et encore une fois , en venant nous voir, vous auriez pu avoir accès au spa gratuitement de 10h30 à 15h30.
