Electric optional grass motorhome pitch

Liked Lovely peaceful site, pitches are well laid out, nice and flat and ours was a perfect size for our VW camper and sun canopy awning. Owners really friendly - Facilities nice and clean - whilst it looks like you need coins to operate the showers the owner informed us that is not required - I think they’ve been updated. We didn’t use the indoor pool but it looked really invited and was well maintained.

Disliked Not a complaint but useful to be aware of. This was our first stop in France and we arrived late afternoon on a Tues, we were looking forward to using the restaurant but the owner advised that the restaurant is closed on Monday and Tuesday evening (this may be seasonal as we stayed in September). There wasn’t anything open locally except a bar in the village (not serving food) so we were a bit stuck for but fortunately managed to scrape a meal together from our emergency provisions. Lesson learnt for us to make sure we do our research and not assume site shops and restaurants will be open :) it was a shame as the food prep smelt divine on weds morning as we were packing up to leave. We enjoyed our fresh croissants and bread though in the morning which we ordered at reception when we arrived.

Electric optional grass tent, touring caravan or trailer tent pitch

Liked The husband and wife who run the campsite are very welcoming and both speak English. The campsite is very clean and the pitches are private and peaceful. There is a restaurant on site ran by the owners. The food was very good. You can order bread and pastries for the following morning at reception. They also sell a few grocery bits at reception and there is a fridge with milk and cold drinks for sale. The heated swimming pool is a real bonus. Our children loved it. We will come back here again.

Disliked Nothing at all.

Local attractions

History buffs will be in their element hereabouts thanks to sights like the Caverne du Dragon, the Musée du Chemin des Dames (10 minutes’ drive), an underground museum set in former war tunnels and dedicated to WWI soldiers. Vauclair Abbey (10 minutes) is another old-timey spot to visit for roams around the ruins of a 12th-century Cistercian monastery; for architecture that’s a little more intact, take yourself over to the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Laon (25 minutes) or stroll around Soissons’ ancient centre, museums and gardens (half an hour). Another settlement to skip through is Reims for its striking basilica, cathedral and palace (40 minutes). This city – considered by many to be the capital of the Champagne region – also has a handful of houses hosting tours and tastings of the fizzy stuff the area is famed for. If sipping on bubbly hasn’t quashed your hankering for historical expeditions, head to Donjon de Septmonts (half an hour) and climb to the top of the keep for views out over the countryside. Follow up with a visit to the Fort of Condé monument (20 minutes) as well to see this 17th-century site on the Séré de Rivières system. And if the kids aren’t best pleased with all these bricks-and-mortar-based adventures? Take them along to the Parc de Coupaville adventure park (half an hour) to bound on the inflatable games.
