How very conveniently set is this Vendée campsite... Family-friendly Camping Sun Océan is set between the famed seaside resort of Les Sables-d'Olonne and the port town of Jard-sur-Mer, on a coastal stretch laden with golden Vendée beaches. The spectacularly scenic sands of Veillon beach, running for a kilometre and a half and including high sand dunes and a pine forest nature reserve, are a only a 10-minute drive away. The friendly and helpful owners at Sun Océan have added plenty of facilities to keep guests busy or relaxed according to their tastes, including a covered, heated pool area with a paddling pool for kids and a larger, covered pool for grownups. Also on site are a pool table, table football and TV in the bar area all year round. Entertainment is organised during July and August, including kids' entertainment in the morning, afternoon family sports and evenings with clowns, magicians and music groups depending upon the programme. A snack bar is open daily in July and August for light bites, drinks and ice cream; wifi is available throughout the site for an additional cost. Camping Sun Océan also has token-operated laundry facilities and large shower and toilet blocks with disabled access. Two supermarkets are 100 and 300 metres from the site.

Liked: Nice pitches, well defined with hedges. We were on a perimeter pitch overlooking a big cornfield. Water tap for each pitch. Very friendly staff and a nice indoor swimming pool. There was a lovely bakery just down the road and in the other direction there was a large Lidl in easy walking distance. The wifi was cheap (10e for seven days) and very good even in the van which was about has far away from reception as you could get. There is a free shuttle bus to the local beach which we regularly used. This was great as parking there was very limited. We also caught the bus to Les Sables d'Ollone which only cost a couple of euros.

Disliked: The toilet and shower block was cleaned every morning but I thought there were not quite enough in the one block when the site was at full capacity, but this is only a minor criticism.

La serviabilité du staff

Disliked: Le bloc sanitaire sale, pas assez nettoyé. Pas assez de douches et de toilettes.
Le sol pour planter les tentes était trop sec.

Liked: Le camping familial avec des emplacements ombragés. L'aire se jeux est suffisamment grande. Terrain de pétanque à disposition. Piscine grande et couverte.

Disliked: Les sanitaires qui sont vétustes, ils méritent un gros coup de neuf.

Liked: J’ai apprécié la petite taille du camping, le petit verre d’accueil de l’équipe , la présentation des activités, ça ne se fait pas partout ,l'ambiance familiale , le calme le soir et le respect de chacun. La propreté des lieux communs .
Les différents types de propisition d’hébergements.
La location de velo, la possibilité de navette pour se déplacer.
Les proches commerces .
La gentillesse du personnel.

Disliked: Les jeunes filles adolescentes qui réquisitionnent les douches pour chanter et danser au son de l’eau qui coule.
Devoir attendre pour se laver ça faisait une file de personne , comme j’aime à positiver , nous avons fait connaissance.

Liked: Nähe zu Supermarkt und Bäcker

Disliked: Sehr dreckige und geruchsintensive Toiletten und Sanitärbereich. Toiletten ohne Klobrillen, sehr verdreckt, Duschen verschimmelt, Waschbecken und Handtuchhalter sehr alt und abgenutzt. Der gesamte Bereich riecht sehr intensiv nach Schimmel, Muff und Urin. Auch die Tatsache, dass Campingklos in den geschlossenen Räumen ohne Fenster geleert werden ist nicht angenehm, gerade wenn man duschen möchte, oder Geschirr wäscht.
Auch die Reinigung der Sanitäranlagen war sehr oberflächlich, unhygienisch und definitiv zu selten!!!
Da Landstrom nur mit 10 Ampere abgesichert sind, kann man immer nur ein Elektrogerät zeitgleich nutzen. Also Kühlschrank aus, dann Wasserkocher an. Nicht zeitgemäß!

Local attractions

This is coast and beach land for lots of long and sandy days out, with fishing, watersports and lazy strolls through salt marshes and countryside all easily accessible nearby. The popular town of Talmont-Saint-Hilaire nearby is best known for its tenth century Château de Talmont, where all sorts of glittery events are held in summer including chivalry and falcon shows or medieval workshops, and the oyster port La Guittière where it's possible to taste oysters directly from the producers facing Veillon beach or the sunset. Les Sables d'Olonne is another much-visited spot in Camping Sun Océan's part of the Vendée: head here for its three-kilometre long beach, lively bars, port, zoo with around 40 endangered species and two museums, one dedicated to cars and one to seashells. A spa is also in town. Other popular options in the area include the sixteenth century Château de la Guignardière, more spectacular beaches at the island of Yeu, and Noirmoutier island and La Rochelle, both about an hour and a half's drive away. Head to Puy du Fou (an hour and five minutes) for theme park rides too.

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

If the reception is closed on arrival, please check in at the Bar.
Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.

Dogs

A valid vaccination certificate must accompany your dog.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.

Swimsuits are obligatory and swimming shorts or Bermuda shorts are not permitted.
The outdoor swimming pool is open between 06/04 and 20/09 (subject to weather conditions).

Reception

Reception is open from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. between 06/04 - 05/07 and 31/08 - 20/09.
