Keen to explore the Vendée or visit Puy du Fou theme park with the kids? If you’re looking for a quiet, laid-back (so laid-back there’s no wifi connection, don’t tell the teenagers) base to hunker down for a few days, have a look at Camping Onlycamp Le Petit Bocage. With a few simple facilities (showers and a laundry service), it’s firmly family-friendly thanks to its location on the outskirts of Essarts-en-Bocage, where you can find food shops for picking up stuff to go on the barbecue, or search out cosy cafés and auberges in which to keep everyone fed and watered. In any case, July and August see a constant stream of ice cream, cold drinks and coffee sold at the site’s snack bar, and you can order freshly baked baguettes and pastries for the following morning’s breakfast. On the days when you’re not out exploring the pretty town of La Roche-sur-Yon or watching medieval spectaculars at Puy du Fou (both half an hour’s drive), you can keep the kids busy with games of pétanque or climbing on the frames in the playground, and in high season the swimming pool right next door is free for site guests to use.

Liked: Camping très calme. Accès à l’électricité et l’eau très facilement. Aussi un accès à la piscine/tennis/padle. Personnels (couple) accueillant et très souriant à l’écoute agréable rien à dire! Le camping a aussi sa petite « guinguette » très sympathique! Je recommande fortement!

Camping en toute simplicité, au calme avec accès direct piscine à la piscine municipale (gratuitement).
Parfait pour se reposer et ou profiter des alentours. (Château des Essarts en Bocage, puys du fou.). Emplacements au choix.

Le plus snack moderne et super convivial!

Disliked: Le moins : Sanitaires communs et bac vaisselles dans la même partie du bâtiment.
Mais tout est propre ! Cest top.

Liked: We used this campsite as a cheaper base from which to visit Puy du Foy for a two days. A simple but good campsite. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Boys (8,6,4) loved the pool. Cafe/bar was useful for cold beer and pizza + chips when we didn’t want to cook. Straight forward 35min drive to Puy du Fou. Was a good value base for our visit.

Liked: L’accueil très sympathique, La proximité de la piscine, la taille des emplacement et la disponibilité qui a fait que l’on a pu vraiment choisir notre lieu de vie pour notre séjour. Et la calme la nuit à partir de 22h30-23 h plus de bruit. Les jeux pour enfants même si nous n’y sommes allé qu’une fois. Proximité avec le Lidl et le Super U sinon 30 minutes du puy du fou

Liked: Very friendly welcome. We were able to choose our own pitch which we did after a walk round the site. Excellent showers, toilets and washing up facilities. Swimming pool is on site but we didn't use it. Well worth it for a quick overnight stop.

Liked: Secluded pitch. Worked for us as overnight stop on our way to Roscoff for our ferry home. Facilities kept very clean.

Disliked: Limited services for motorhomes as you had to go to nearby public waste disposal points which worked but not ideal. Compared to the size of the site, shower and toilet facilities were very limited

Local attractions

Staying at Camping Onlycamp Le Petit Bocage puts you in pole position for a day trip to the big-hitting theme park Puy du Fou (half an hour’s drive), where you can watch medieval jousting, Roman games and Viking invasions recreated by a colourful cast of thousands. History is also brought to life at Château des Essarts (five minutes), with equestrian shows, crossbow shooting and forest trails. La Roche-sur-Yon (half an hour) is a fortified town built by Napoléon in 1804, where there is lots of grand neoclassical architecture to admire. The kids will no doubt prefer a visit to the Chocolate Museum or to meet the eccentric mechanical animals in Place Napoléon. To get some activity in, spend a family day on the rope courses and zipwires of Tépacap Vendée amusement park, or hire a pedalo to explore the lake at neighbouring Pédalo Minigolf - Lac Tricherie (both 20 minutes). Round off your adventures with a stroll around scented gardens full of seasonal produce at Le Potager Extraordinaire (25 minutes).

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Changes to your holiday

Bookings cannot be amended within 30 day(s) of arrival.

Dogs

A valid vaccination certificate must accompany your dog.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
