It'll be easy to keep your offspring amused from Camping du Vieux Château on the Loire-Atlantique coast… for not only is this friendly and well-equipped site a 10-minute walk from the beaches, shops and town centre of Saint-Michel-Chef-Chef, it's only five kilometres from the excellent antics, tree climbing and hanging bikes of Pornic Adventure. The beaches and chunk of coast around here lend themselves with no probs to family activity days, whether you want to cycle the coastal path, gallop along the sands by horseback or get into the water for windsurfing or sea kayaking. The Sentier des Daims animal park, Défi Nature and Planète Sauvage are all within 35 kilometres of the site's setting between Pornic and Saint-Brévin-Les-Pins; Nantes is 50 kilometres away. Camping du Vieux Château is a family-run site, with plenty of shaded areas and well-maintained paths giving easy access throughout. It has a grocery shop selling fresh local produce including cheese and fruit throughout the season, and also runs a snack bar in summer for quick bites as well as a fresh bread service. Barbecues are available for hire. Leisurely options include a heated pool and a paddling pool, a roomy playground, a pétanque court and table football in the spacious snack bar. Evening entertainment is arranged in high season.

Disliked: Aucun espace de jeux pour enfants de plus de 6 ans ! Juste une petite structure avec toboggans pour les petits. Qd les enfants veulent jouet au ballon, le responsable vient demander d arrêter !
Quel surprise et désagrément de devoir ranger toute la vaisselle qd on arrive ( après 5 h de route )

Liked: Nicely laid out, quiet, clean.

Disliked: The all-grass pitches with motorhomes or vans on them can soon turn into mud baths, and the old bamboo fences would probably be better replaced with some privacy hedges.

Liked: Not to much

Disliked: We arrived at about 11am spoke to a guy who was cleaning the toilets he said reception didn't open until 2pm waited around for 3 hours only to find the guy cleaning the toilets was the owner and could have let us on to a pitch. We paid for two nights and only staid for one

Liked: Friendly staff. Good hot showers. Great pizzas. Walking distance to beach but no facilities when you get there.

Disliked: Pitches on top of each other far too close for safety. Broken cheap fencing between them.

Liked: Very friendly staff.
Well kept site with many amenities.
Lovely pool area with bar for snacks,meals and drinks.
Close to town and beach.

Disliked: If I had to make a comment, it would be that it would have been great for us if there had been a grey waste water area for our campervan. There was a toilet waste area which was great but no waste water from our sink.I apologise if there was one but we never found it if there was.

Liked: Very small and compact site, ideal spot if you like the beach only a 10 minute walk, pitches were a good size and mostly level but there is little privacy ( we were parked right next to a chalet where we could see and hear everything and vise-versa) and not much room for manoeuvring especially if you have a larger motorhome.. toilets and showers were kept spotlessly clean and the swimming pool was lovely. . there is a small shop where you can buy fresh foods

Disliked: Although we paid extra for our dog, in my opinion not very dog friendly

Four kilometres of family-friendly beach and coves await at Saint-Michel-Chef-Chef a 10-minute walk from the site, including two lifeguarded beaches, kids' clubs and games. If you'd rather get out onto the water, book watersports sessions including sea kayaking, sailing and windsurfing from the Saint-Michel nautical clubs or nearby in Pornic. More family days are at Pornic Adventure five kilometres away, an amusement park with tree climbing, hanging bikes, a climbing wall and a shooting range; among the Legendia Parc of Frossay, 20 kilometres away; and at the nearby animal park of Sentier des Daims. Défi Nature, a leisure park with paintballing, tree climbing and an orienteering course, is also within a short drive, and the 1000+ animals of safari park Planète Sauvage can be seen by car or 4x4 bush truck, 35 kilometres from the site. An equestrian centre five kilometres away has lessons and excursions for all levels from beginner to experienced riders, including trails through the countryside or canters on the beach. You'll also be able to easily find local biking and hiking trails from here, around the coast and the Guérande peninsula, around Pornic, on the popular island of Noirmoutier, and on Europe's longest cycling trail La Vélodyssée, the 1400-kilometre route connecting Roscoff to Hendaye.

Booking terms and conditions

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Dogs

A valid vaccination certificate must accompany your dog.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.

Only park guests are authorised to use the pool.
Swimsuits are obligatory and swimming shorts or Bermuda shorts are not permitted.
The indoor swimming pool is open between 05/04 and 05/10.

Reception

Reception is open from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. between 05/04 and 05/10.

Safety

Barbecues are permitted but must be raised off the ground and attended by an adult at all times.
Firearms are not permitted.
Open fires are prohibited.

Vehicles

No vehicle movement between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m..
Only one car is to be parked by the pitch. Extra vehicles must be parked in the designated area.

Visitors

Visitors’ cars are not permitted on site.
Visitors must register at reception and pay their fee.
