Need a battery recharge? Maybe it's time to head for Camping Onlycamp L'Orée des Vosges in the centre of the Vosges, where all is peaceful and calm, and the spacious grass pitches sitting under trees are divided by hedgerows for your extra privacy.
There are numerous challenging walks nearby, and thermal waters to be taken in Plombières-les-Bains (10 minutes’ drive). The village of Le Val-d’Ajol (10 minutes’ walk into the centre) has several gourmet restaurants serving local specialities like andouille sausages, so you’ll surely find plenty to do if you wish. Equally well, you can simply sit back on your pitch, read a favourite book or snooze in the sun.
Everything’s there on site so you don’t have to worry about day-to-day chores – hot showers, washing-up sinks, a laundry room, a baby area and accessible facilities for guests with reduced mobility. You can brew coffees and microwave snacks in the entertainment room, where there’s also a TV, and if you have young kids with you, there’s a small play area with ping-pong tables.
Anything you’re not sure about? Just ask at reception.

Local attractions
Listed as a 'Remarkable Site of Taste', Le Val-d’Ajol (10 minutes’ walk) is proud of its gastronomic heritage; there are several gourmet eateries and also a number of delis selling local produce. It’s rich in cultural heritage too, with an impressive church, a former priory and several 'chalots' (barn-like buildings typical of the Vosges) topped by roofs tiled with grey volcanic stone.
The Ajol Valley gives access to more than 150 km of hiking trails in the Vosges foothills. You can have a yomp into thick forest to Faymont Waterfall (10 minutes’ drive and 20 minutes’ walk) with the kids, or take the longer route to Géhard Waterfall (15 minutes’ drive and an hour’s walk) in its deep ravine. Still out in nature, anglers head to Drague Pond (20 minutes’ drive) in a former quarry, golfers enjoy a round at Tee’Voli Park (10 minutes) and kids let off energy on the treetop rope courses at Accro’ Terrasses (15 minutes).
If all you can think about is having a massage, there are numerous spa towns in the region. Plombières-les-Bain (10 minutes), Luxeuil-les-Bains (25 minutes) and Bains-les-Bains (35 minutes) all have thermal baths with a variety of pampering treatments available.
