There is so, so much to get stuck into from Camping Sous Doriat in the Jura department. You could, for example, try watersports of all kinds at the Ain river, two kilometres away, or Lac de Chalain (10 minutes' drive away)… You could travel intrepidly to the town of Champagnole, 15 minutes' drive away, for adventures at the gateway to the high Jura mountains and the Jura lakes, and the start of the 40-kilometre Route des Sapins (Pine Road), which crosses the Frese, Joux and Levier forests. If none of these splendid pursuits have caught your attention, hiking, fishing and mountain biking are all around to try out as well. Camping Sous Doriat is a peaceful and family-friendly site less than 10 minutes' walk from its local village of Monnet-la-Ville. It is surrounded by scenic green countryside, and has decent amenities including two modern accessible bathroom blocks open 24 hours a day with unlimited hot water and a baby bathroom. Summer sees all manner of activities for all sizes on site, such as water polo games in the big heated pool with a retractable roof (open in July and August), ping pong and pétanque tournaments and music nights. Other facilities include a playground and a multisports pitch.

Liked: This is a lovely site in the rural area of the Juras. The swimming pool was amazing and a welcome relief to the heat.
Brilliant dark skies for start gazing, but beware of the wildlife, both flying and four legged!

Disliked: Les horaires sur le site sont fausses, on doit arriver après 12h et repartir avant 12h, contrairement au site qui dit qu'on peut arrivee et repartir quand on veut dans la journée. On a donc dû attendre 2h30 notre emplacement.
De plus l'accueil téléphonique et à la reception était médiocre, pas agréable, c'est limite si on dérange.
De plus si on a pas de voiture on ne peut casiment rien faire dans le coin.

Local attractions

Microlight flights, canoe rental, that summer circus school and horse riding lessons are all available near the site, along with fishing, canoeing and mountain biking around the waters of the Ain river. The famed expanse of Lac de Chalain is around five kilometres from Camping Sous Doriat. It's a popular place for activities on and around the water, including more fishing, canoeing and mountain biking, and circular lakeside hikes such as one taking you up to the Fontenu viewpoint for a spectacular vista over the area's four lakes. Look out just under the water for the well-reserved remains of the area's stilt houses, dating back over 3,000 years. Within easy day trip distance, drive along to the Baume-les-Messieur caves (17 kilometres or 20 minutes' drive), the Hérisson Falls, and the Arbois vineyards, both within 30-40 minutes, and the UNESCO-listed Salins-les-Bains saltworks, 35 minutes' drive away.

Admission

All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Dogs

A valid vaccination certificate must accompany your dog.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. XL Bully, Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

The management reserves the right to deny access or terminate the stay of those guests whose behaviour is deemed unsuitable. No refunds will be offered.

Hired accommodation

Hired accommodation: €270.00 (£225.08) damage/cleanliness/bracelet deposit is required on arrival and will be refunded on departure after inspection of your unit should no damage/losses be found.
