Electric optional grass pitch
Liked: Not a lot!
Disliked: Firstly in my opinion this site is for the French, not international or European visitors. It's the ONLY camp site I have ever visited in Europe that does not have a "Reception" sign, hence we drove twice around a "Secured" electric barrier area before we decided to check out a building on the opposite side of the road with Accueil on the the outside (Later learned it meant welcome). Check in was Ok and we went to our muddy pitch. The nearest toilet was literally a 6' X 8' wooden garden shed divided into two for men and women. The "Information sheet" is in French only too. The showers are open to the elements rather than inside a building. Although our number plate was recognized on day one, it failed after that and we were given a keypad code. There are no "local" restaurants but a member of staff did a "Google" search and found us one ... Some 9 kms away on the "Other" side of Brest. The journey to it was not relaxing but through much of Brest's run down graffiti'd streets (I guess becoming of a major naval port). Finally if you leave anything other than good reviews on "their" site it will be deleted by them, they don't take criticism... As I began by saying "this is a French site for the French! They rate it as a four star ... For us a two at the most .. Huge mistake to even head to Brest.

From the manager: Dear John,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations.
While our campsite does mainly welcome French-speaking guests, we do our best to accommodate all nationalities and are always happy to assist in English when needed. our point about the lack of a visible "Reception" sign in English is well taken, and we will look into improving this for better clarity.
Regarding the sanitary facilities, we’re sorry that the nearest block did not meet your expectations. However, a fully equipped and heated sanitary block was available during your stay, and our team did point it out to you upon arrival. We regret if this was unclear or not as convenient as expected.
We understand that the pitch conditions may have been impacted by recent rain, which can occasionally affect the ground in our region, despite our efforts to maintain the terrain.
As for the gate system, it normally works automatically with plate recognition, and we apologize for the technical issue you encountered. Thankfully, our team was able to quickly provide you with a code to ensure continued access.
We also regret that you found the local area underwhelming. While our location offers calm and nature, some attractions and restaurants do require a short drive, and we’re continuously working on improving our local recommendations to help guests find options that suit their preferences.
Lastly, we’d like to assure you that we never delete negative reviews. We value all feedback, even critical, as it helps us to evolve and offer a better experience for future guests.
We’re truly sorry that your visit didn’t reflect the standard we strive for, and we wish you all the best in your future travels.
Kind regards,
Laura, Camping du Goulet****

Electric optional grass pitch
Liked: Wonderful campsite with everything you need. Great pools indoor and out (no use of pools between 1230 and 2pm), bouncy castle, bar, ice cream machine, small shop, kids room with table tennis, laundry facilities. Clean showers and toilets all very well done with a beach theme. Although only 2 toliets, another block of toilets 1 min walk away.
Pitch was good size and privacy with bushes inbetween.
Fresh pastries on order every morning and pizza or burgers in evening saves a night of cooking.
Beach walk is through a steep wood. Nice walk to a pebble beach.
5 minute drive to a sandy beach both had bars but we didn't use.
Supermarkets 15mins drive away in Brest.
Disliked: Very rough ground around pool edge, feet get sore after going on sides for a while. Kids seem to not mind and stops running around the edge.
Toilet soap was always running out. Need bigger dispensers to stop this happening.

Liked: Great site with good clean facilities. There is a bus stop nearby taking you to Brest or on to the wider transport system only 4.5 euros for day ticket to ride bus, tram and cable car. Fresh bread available every day with small super market a short walk away. All staff really friendly great stay.
