Looking to treat yourselves to a couples’ break in Brittany? Like the sound of a vintage caravan with a private patio and exclusive-use facilities? Brittany Sea and Countryside, 10 minutes’ drive from Pleumeur-Gautier on the dramatic, windswept Côtes-d’Armor, sounds like the spot for you.
Your bijou temporary home for two is tucked away in a secluded corner of a large, leafy garden and is surrounded by hedges and trees. Dating from the 1980s, the Esterel caravan has been tastefully done out with plenty of storage for your bits and bobs, a comfy double bed (all bed linen is provided) and a cosy dining area.
Just outside is a private and sunny terrace with access to a renovated outbuilding containing a shower room with an eco-friendly dry toilet and a well-equipped kitchen with a hob, microwave, fridge and washing-up sink.
There’s also a barbecue and picnic table for alfresco meals; a breakfast basket service is available from the site owners, who are on hand in their traditional Breton stone farmhouse if you have any queries.

Local attractions
First off, you might like to explore a brace of pretty towns. Visit Paimpol (20 minutes’ drive) for the 16th-century half-timbered houses in its cobbled Latin Quarter, and the host of seafood restaurants around the buzzy fishing harbour. Tréguier (10 minutes) is another gorgeous little place stuffed chock full of black-and-white houses and granite-built mansions, all under the watchful eye of an ornate Gothic-era cathedral.
Next stop the Côte de Granit Rose (25 minutes), where you can hike the GR34 along the sculpted coastline scattered with pink and grey rock formations. Alternatively, take the 10-minute ferry journey from Pointe de l’Arcouest (half an hour) to pedestrian-only Île-de-Bréhat for a hike among wildflowers and heather-strewn moorland. When you’d prefer to be out on the water, sailing, canoeing, paddleboarding and coasteering are all available from Pontrieux (15 minutes).
If you’re into bagging impressive castles, make a beeline for Château de la Roche-Jagu (15 minutes), where you can join in medieval reenactments, stroll the landscaped gardens and admire the spectacular views over the River Trieux estuary.
