It's free, quick and easy!
- Family-friendly park on the edge of the seaside town of Erquy
- A 20-minute walk from the beach and watersports centres
- Indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools and spacious playground
As home to the Emerald Coast and Pink Granite Coast, Brittany’s Côtes d’Armor area is certainly a colourful place for a holiday…
Whether you’re heading out with your paint palette, your camera or your beach kit, family-friendly Camping du Val is in a splendid spot to see it all. It’s just on the edge of the town of Erquy, a 15-minute walk from shops and restaurants and an easy 20-minute stroll from the sandy beach. The town has easy access to 15 kilometres of signposted hiking trail, and a cycling greenway with a lengthy stretch by the coast. There’s also a fab range of watersports including sand yachting, paddleboarding and kitesurfing.
Foodies should find some excellent foraging around the town – it’s famed for its scallops and traditional Breton cakes, both of which you can sample in the many restaurants or pick up at the weekly market. If you’d rather try to hook your own fish, sign up for sea fishing trips at the harbour. Panic not if you’re not successful, as the site has a snack bar that can keep you fed for both lunch and dinner; there's also a sociable bar serving up cocktails and ice creams along with live music on summer evenings.
It’s a cinch to fill the time between eating opportunities: the swimming pool area has both indoor and outdoor sections (with twice-weekly aqua gym classes, and a hot tub for afterwards) and there’s also space for games of table tennis and pétanque, along with a spacious playground for les enfants.

Local attractions
So, that coastline… (it’s what you’ve come here for, non?) Erquy is part of the Emerald Coast, so called for its gorgeously coloured seawater. Seaside strolls are most rewarding here, either on the trails that run from town or at many scenic spots nearby: try the viewpoint at Cap d’Erquy (10 minutes’ drive), the 18th-century Fort La Latte (20 minutes) and Cap Fréhel lighthouse (20 minutes) for splendid views.
The official Pink Granite Coast is an hour or so away by car, but if you can’t face venturing that far you can check out the rose-hued cliffs around Erquy while paddleboarding, kayaking or windsurfing from the beach. Sand yachting is another activity option in town, and there’s an Indian Forest adventure park 25 minutes’ drive away.
For town times, it’s worth making a detour inland to Dinan (45 minutes) to ramble around the ramparts and see the château and handsome half-timbered houses; if you can’t bear to leave the seaside behind, set a course instead for Saint-Malo (55 minutes) and its castle, aquarium and sea-view fortifications.
